On June 5, AP US History teacher David Uribe held a “wax museum” project in the cafeteria. For the project, students chose to become a “wax figure” of a historical figure from their textbook by wearing a costume and creating an informational poster. Other students from US History classes were invited to the event and went around the room from figure to figure to take notes on the short speech the characters gave.

Elizabeth Huang (’15), a US History student, stated, “It was really fun. We had to go around and jot down the major reason why that person was famous and a few other new things I learned,”

This was the first time Uribe held this project with this APUSH classes and decided to have it as the annual end of the year project after the conclusion of AP testing. Whether or not the event will be held next year depends on the overall success of this year’s museum.

“I thought the project would be fun and exciting,” said Uribe.

“When Mr. Uribe first introduced the project to us, I was very excited because I like to make posters. I liked how he he gave us the independence to add whatever information we saw fit,” stated Theresa Nguyen (’15), who dressed up as Eleanor Roosevelt.

After the event, when Uribe asked his classes for their opinion on the project, a majority stated that they would like to see it be continued next year.

Nguyen stated, “For me, the wax museum was very amusing and helped me see the real change in our country,”
