Here are your morning announcements for Friday, September 26th:

Congratulations to the September Seniors of the Month – Shea Snyder and
Vivian Nguyen!

Yesterday on the George Berg Freshman Field, the Frosh football team tamed the Lions in a 34-0 victory.  The offensive and defensive line dominated the line of scrimmage allowing the Barons to wrangle their third shut-out of the year.  The Baron’s next opponent will be their first league game in two weeks against Los Al.  Go Barons!

The girls cross country team began league competition Wed with strong performances from Julie Ransom, Heather Carr and Laura Resendez. The frosh soph team beat every league competitor finishing undefeated and a perfect 5-0. The frosh/soph were led by Lynn Vo, Avani Salcedo, Kristen Prado, and Savannah Buhman.

Congratulations to Varsity & JV Girls Tennis on their victories over Long Beach Poly and Marina!  The FV Girls Tennis team is currently ranked #9 in Orange County.  This is the first time FV has been in the top 10 in 24 years!!! Great job ladies!

Come to the Homecoming Game tonight at Huntington Beach High School to see who gets crowned 2014 Homecoming King and Queen.  The Barons are taking on the Westminster Lions, kick-off is at 7:00pm.  If you have a Super Baron or ASB card, just show it at the gate and get in free!  Go Barons, beat the Lions!

Congratulations to Varsity, JV & Frosh/Soph Girls Tennis on their Victory over Westminster. Hanh Pham is undefeated so far this season, she is 24 and 0. Great job Ladies!

Attention all Varsity Athletes — next Monday, September 29th is our second annual FVHS All Sport Varsity Athletes Summit @ 6:00pm in the gym. This is a mandatory event for all Varsity only athletes from all sports, both male and female. Please report to the gym by 6:00 pm along with your coaches. The evening will begin with a keynote speech from Baron Football Alum Matt Stevens, former UCLA quarterback. There will be three break-out sessions after that followed by our keynote speaker and HUGE raffle. The evening should be complete no later than 8:00 pm, so you don’t want to miss. We will see all Varsity Athletes next Monday night!!

Hey Barons! Come out to the bowl during lunch time today to see your homecoming court get pied! It only costs one dollar to pie any homecoming court member of your choice!

Thanks to everyone who submitted a video into the Homecoming Video Contest!! The top 3 videos have been chosen by a panel of teachers and now it’s time for YOU to select the winning video! The winner will receive a FREE homecoming ticket and the runner-up will receive a $25 gift card! All top 3 videos will be highlighted during this Friday’s Homecoming Assembly! Voting begins during lunch today and the poll can be found on fvhs.com!

University of the Pacific is a nationally ranked university with three distinct campuses. The Stockton campus is home to seven schools and colleges, with more than 80 majors and programs of study. Pacific also has the McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento and the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco. Undergraduates make up approximately half of the total University population, with 3,757 students. An average class size of 19 and student-faculty ratio of 14:1. UOP will be attending our College and Career Day on Oct. 15th. Go Tigers!

Due to popular demand and students’ efforts to get cleared, we are going to have one more Homecoming Dance ticket sale – this Wednesday!  Get cleared, Serve detentions and if you would like to bring a guest who does not attend FVHS, pick up a dance contract in Supervision and turn in by 3:00pm tomorrow!

Congratulations to the Frosh/Soph Girls Volleyball teams, the Gold team had a great finish at the OC Championship and were led by freshmen outside hitters Alex Brooks & Mia Lara.  The Royal team did well at the University Tournament led by great play of Olivia Hing.  A special congratulations to the Varsity Team and Century tournament champions!  The tournament recognized Ari Jacobsen on the All- tournament team as well as Valerie Holler as the tournament MVP!

Locker assignments are available, check Supervision Window.

Does your last class end before lunch?  Stop by the Supervision window before you leave campus today to get your sticker on your ID.   Schedules are no longer accepted.

Students are not permitted to leave campus at lunch without a valid student ID and sticker.  Please remain on campus at lunch if you do not have your ID.

All off-season swimmers, there is a parent meeting tomorrow night at 7:00pm in the cafeteria.  Please inform your parents.

Hey Barons, are you struggling in your classes? Get extra help from teachers and tutors at Homework Club. Do you need to clear detentions? Do it at homework club. Look for the schedule on the FVHS website or in the front office.

Are you interested in attending Yale or Johns Hopkins?  Maybe Lasell or Colorado State?  How about the University of Arizona or Arizona State, FIDM or UC San Diego? All of these colleges plus many more are visiting the FVHS Career Center. Sign up outside the Career Center, get a pass signed by your teacher and come learn about these colleges and admissions requirements. Congrats to the 2014 top ten!  The top ten list will be posted by noon today.  If you are on the list, please attend a brief meeting at lunch or at 3pm in Activities.  If you can’t make either meeting, please send a friend to get the info.    Our final round of voting to determine our 2014 court will start at noon on Thursday.

Homecoming Tickets Sales continue today and tomorrow.  The Financial Office is open from 7:30am to 3:00pm.  Today’s prices are $80.00 with ASB/Super Baron and $85.00 without andtomorrow on the last day of sales, the prices are $90.00 with ASB/SuperBaron & $95.00 without.

Congratulations to our 5 National Merit Semi Finalists, Amy Hoang, Christine Nguyen, Brandon Vu Brian Wang and Christian Warloe. They scored in the top 4% of all juniors nationwide on the PSAT last October. We wish them the best as they move forward in the scholarship competition. Go Barons! (end 9/19)

Congratulations to the girls golf team for the victory over Estancia. The Barons were led by senior captain Lilia Vu who medaled with a 34 and Melissa Kittredge who also played well. Way to go Barons!

Attention boys soccer! Tryouts have been postponed to Wednesday and Thursday this week from 3:00-4:30 on the varsity field. The soccer class will meet with Coach Smith today after 5th period in the Library. Don’t be late!

The Guidance Department is now leveling classes and are not accepting any new change requests.  Some students will receive new schedules due to this leveling.  These changes are unavoidable but necessary.  For more information, see Mr. Herzfeld’s message on our website.  Thank you for your understanding.

Homecoming Tickets go on sale tomorrow, September 16th!!!  Tomorrow is the early bird special, $70.00 with ASB or SuperBaron and $75.00 without.  The Financial Office will have extended office hours this dayONLY…7:00am to 6:00pm!   Starting Wednesday, prices will go up to $80.00 with ASB/Super Baron and $85.00 without and on Thursday, September 18th, the last day to purchase your homecoming tickets, prices will be $90.00 with ASB/SuperBaron & $95.00 without.  Remember, tomorrow, cheaper ticket prices and extended office hours, get yours TOMORROW!!!

Congratulations to the girls Varsity volleyball team, with their sweep last night over The Lords from Canada.  Varsity moves to 2-0 heading in to the OC Championships this weekend.  A special “Shout out” to sophomore Erin Finley who led the team with 7 aces!

Attention Barons…we are selling homecoming tickets next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  On Tuesday, tickets are $70 with SuperBaron, $75 without, on Wednesday, $80 with SuperBaron, $85 without, and on Thursday, $90 with SuperBaron and $95 without.   Ticket window opens at 7am on Tuesday only.

Congratulations to our Mighty Barons Football team on their impressive victory over

Baldwin Park, 43 – 6.  This week the Barons travel to Trabuco Hills High School.  7:00 kick off.

 Barons – have you ever thought about singing in one of our award-winning choirs?   Our Vocal Music Program is definitely an exciting place to be!  NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!   You will learn how to develop your voice in addition to learning basic guitar, piano and music theory.   We have a place for everyone, so stop by Room 307 and talk with Mr. Tison or any of the Vocal Music students on how you can join and get involved.   Knock that Performing Arts credit out of the way and become a part of one of the best organizations on campus!

The British are coming!   On Tuesday, we will have the pleasure of welcoming All the King’s Men to our campus.   This group of guys from King’s College in London is the premier men’s acappella singing group of the UK!  Ages 18-24, these 10 British gents will be performing LIVE for our entire campus during lunch in the Bowl.   Grab your lunch early and get to the Bowl to enjoy an entertaining music performance by ALL THE KING’S MEN!

Here are your morning announcements for Friday, September 5th:
After last week’s loss, the Freshman Barons routed the Baldwin Park Knights 40-0.  Josh Tellez led all Baron scores with 27 points and the defense was anchored by the ferocious line play of Shane Banduruk, Billy Ngo, Julian Sandavol, and David Straw who never allowed the Knights to cross the goalline.  All the Frosh Barons contributed to the victory, however, notable play must be commended to Syrus Collins, Jevon Hill, Isiah Galloway, Christian Castro, Nathan Wright, Samuel Allcorn, Michael Klug, Angel Chalevas, and Jaydin Breedlove.  Next week the Frosh Barons will take on their south county nemesis, the Trabuco Hills Mustangs.  Thank you for your continued support.  Go Barons!!!

All students must have a lock on their ASSIGNED locker by today.  Any student found to be using a locker not assigned to them will lose their locker privileges for the school year.  All unlocked lockers will be reissued to a student who was not assigned a locker.  Please come to the supervision window at lunch or after school if you do not have a locker and would like one.

The only Saturday School before Homecoming is tomorrow.  Come to the cafeteria before 7:30am with 4 hours of work or a book to read.  Saturday School ends at 11:45am.  Late arrivals not admitted.

Auditions continue today for William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar.  Auditions will be held in room 309 Please see Mr. Zick in 309 for more information.

 Congratulations to our mighty Baron Football Team for beating South Plantation 28 to 8!  Telo Paseka was Defensive MVP and Ryan Finley was Offensive MVP. Great job Barons!  The Barons have a home game this Friday night vs. Baldwin Park at Westminster.  Kick Off is at 7:00pm.  If you have a Super Baron/ASB Card, just show it at the gate and get in free.  All others are $8.00.  Go Barons!
 Start the year off organized, planners on sale only $5.00 in the Front office.  If you purchased a planner and haven’t picked it up yet, you can get it from Mary at the Reception Desk.

Practice ACT and SAT at FVHS library, Sept 20th and Oct 25th, 9:00am to 1:00pm.  $25.00 for one test $40.00 for two. Register at revolutionprep.com  Juniors this is the last practice before taking the tests in spring.

 If you have an application for a parking permit to the senior lot, you MUST turn it in the Supervision office by tomorrow, September 3rd, or we will not guarantee you a permit for the senior lot.

All students must have a lock on their ASSIGNED locker by this Friday, September 5th.  Any student found to be using a locker not assigned to them will lose their locker privileges for the school year.  All unlocked lockers after Friday will be reissued to a student who was not assigned a locker.  Please come to the supervision window at lunch or after school if you do not have a locker and would like one.

There is ONE Saturday School before Homecoming and it’s this weekend.  Come to the cafeteria this Saturday before 7:30am with 4 hours of work or a book to read.  Saturday School ends at 11:45am.  Late arrivals not admitted.

ATTENTION ALL CLUB PRESIDENTS: There is an ICC meeting today at lunch in room 304B. If you are unsure of whether your club was approved, there will be a list of the approved clubs posted on the window outside of the activities office by lunch.

Shakespeare famously wrote, ‘All the World’s a Stage, and all men and women merely players’.  So if you are a player already, come let your creativity shine.  Fountain Valley theatre will hold auditions for a completely original theatrical experience based on William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar.  Auditions will be held in room 309 on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Please see Mr. Zick in 309 for more information.
