The class, taught by Lehua Werdel, is another science option for juniors and seniors besides an AP science class or physics.

The class explores the human body and living systems in depth. It’s considered an element of biology. This class is a recommendation for students interested in a career in biology or anatomy.

“Judging by the class so far, I would recommend this class to others. Anybody who has taken bio [biology] should have covered some anatomy and if that interested them then I would definitely recommend,” said Noor Alamar (’15).

Students expect to learn about body systems in detail. The appeal of this class is the real-life dissections and activities. The class may dissect many living things and explore the actual human body.

“Yes, so my goal for this year is to do quite a few dissections. So, we’ll probably dissect sheep’s heart, sheep’s brain, and I’d like to get into the cat dissection at the end of the year, so it would be a step up from all the other dissections we’ve done on campus so far,” said Wedel.

Students are hopeful for this new class that was added to the course guide.

“I chose physiology because the name caught my attention, I didn’t even know what it actually meant at first. And to me, it’s an honor to be a part of the first year it was added to our educational program,” said Jaime Mai (’15).

Physiology has attracted many students that enjoyed their previous biology classes.

“So far I am really enjoying the class and [I] am excited about the guest speakers Mrs. Werdel hopes to bring in to teach us about different jobs in the medical field,” said Ryan Callaghan (’15).
