Back to school night was held on Monday, Sept. 22 to inform parents about their child’s classes and teachers; but some have different perspectives on if it’s necessary to attend or not.

Every year, FVHS and many schools around the district hold an annual Back to School night where parents are invited to come meet their students’ teachers and get a glimpse of what the rest of the school year will be like.

Some parents think that back to school night is very important.

“It’s important to show support for the teacher,” parent Doug Francisco said. “And also to meet the teachers and see what they’re all about.”

Francisco has been going to back to school night’s for eight straight years and believes that it is absolutely necessary to attend these school events.

Roxanne Rodriguez, a parent with two sons, one still in school has been to every back to school night for the past six years. Rodriguez thinks that it’s important for parents to be involved in school alongside their student.

“Sure if they want to meet the teachers, this is a good time to do it,” said Rodriguez. “Sometimes it’s inconvenient for people who are still working or they’re just lazy.”
Keithane Tran’s (’18) parents don’t think that it’s important to go to back to school night.

“It takes too much time,” said Tran.

However his parents still attended back to school night.

Even with mixed feelings about the importance of back to school night, a majority of parents came to see their students’ teachers and get a gist of what to expect this school year.
