Fountain Valley football brought Westminster to it’s knees at the annual Homecoming game, 45-6, wrapping up their preseason on a high note.

The Barons dominated the first half of the game with multiple runs to the end zones. They played with one emphasis in mind: to be as physical as possible.

“Being physical all the time. It’s always just hitting the other team as hard as we possibly can.” said quarterback Kent Swift (‘16).

During the first quarter, Chad Olberding (‘16) scored a touchdown and Ryan Finley (‘15) a two point conversion, leading the Barons in with 8 points. With FV still in the lead, Dikarai Barnett (‘16) rushed 45 yards and scored another seven points.

Barons were successful with even more touchdowns.  Hunter Margain (‘15) at the second quarter carried the team with a score of 23-0 and Quarterback Kent Swift scored two more touchdowns, with Finley once again converting an additional two points.

Lions marked their first touchdown before the last quarter, but fumbled and failed to gain the extra point when Margain caught the pass on an interception, giving Barons the advantage and extra points.

FV Barons gained yet another victory with a final score of 45-6.

“Well, we were hard, we played hard today, you know,” said Coach Ray Fenton after the game.  “We put the helmets and the shoulder pads on for a reason.”

The Barons have a bye week next week. This will be their chance to recover after a long preseason run as well as prepare for the game against Los Alamitos.

“Yea, we’re ready. [They’re] 5-0 in league. We’re coming,” the defensive end Adam Tallabas (‘16) remarked.
