The girls tennis team battled it out against the Vikings, winning 16-2 for the featured Game of the Week, on Tuesday. This is an improvement from their previous score of 15-3 when they played Marina last month. The girls are now ranked 3rd in league with four wins and two losses.

“However the day comes out, whatever [the team] does on the court that day, we just basically leave no areas uncovered so we can improve,” head coach Harshul Patel said.

The matches ended quickly with the determination and focus of the team running high as they redeemed themselves from the previous loss last week. The girls played consistently and strategically to secure their victory.

“There were times when I would drop shot her and she would come up,” said singles player Jenna Lieu (’17). “She’d return the ball right into my hitting zone so I could just smack it at her, and she wouldn’t make it. ”

With many of the previous matches struggling with a stable doubles line-up, the team may have found a breakthrough as they were able to win all of their doubles matches. They began to utilize one of the tallest members of the team, freshman player Vikki Nguyen (’18) with Giao Phan (’16) as one of their new solid and consistent doubles players.

“We do everything within our reach to best job to achieve the best results,” said Patel.
