The Girls Golf was busy last week with one tournament and two matches.

Girls Golf started off their second to last week of the season with a tournament. Melissa Kitredge (’17) and Lilia Vu (’15) played well, shooting under 100 strokes.

Their next match against Huntington was another hard fought game but an unfortunate loss with a score of 218-239. Players Breanna Bui (’18) and Vu  were both still able to shoot great scores.

The other match of the week against Newport was another tough game with a close loss. Vu played with another overall low score of the match shooting a 34 and Bui also showed fantastic play.

The girls were all able to keep up the hard work and perseverance through their games leading up to league finals.

Vu stated, “We are friendly and determined. Basically we are strong competitors.”

The girls ended their season with league finals. Kittredge, Bui, and Vu were all able to qualify as part of the top 16 on day one and move on to day two.

On the second day, Vu finished with three under 67 to win the league tournament. Kittredge also shot an 81 which qualified both Vu and herself for the CIF individual championships golf competition taking place on Monday October 27th.

The team showed some of their hardest work in this particular season.

Head coach Carter Keyser said, “No matter how tough it got for them, they never quit.”

Not only was the team hard working, but always kept in positive attitudes as well.

Keyser also said, “Our varsity team wasn’t the most talented team in Orange County, but no team had more heart.”

There was always increasing talent, positivity, and dedication within the team this year.

Vivienne Nguyen (’15) said it was the best season of her life and she’s going to miss the team so much.

Keyser said, “All the girls in the program worked their tail off this year and I couldn’t be more proud.”
