Last week, Girls Volleyball played their final League game against Newport Harbor and unfortunately lost.

Varsity lost 0-3, with scores 21-25, 19-25, and 10-25. The team’s defense and energy on the court was solid at the beginning of the match but became inconsistent after losing two close sets.

Middle blocker Sutton Fryslie (’15) earned the Barons several points with clean blocks and kills. DS Noelle Hillman (’15) hustled on the court and passed hard balls with ease.

“Although we didn’t win, I was exited to have the chance to play Newport and put up a pretty good fight,” said varsity player Zara Platt (’15). “The season could have gone better, but the league is tough and I’m glad that we were able to win a few games.”

Despite their rocky season, the seniors on the team ended their last ever game on a positive note.

“It was a bittersweet game; I love my team to death and it was sad knowing we would never play together again,” said McDonald. “Even though it was rough season, I am proud of my team and grateful for the lifelong friendships that have come from playing volleyball.”
