FVHS Concert Choir and Troubadours left on Thursday, Nov. 13 to spend two days at Thousand Pine in Crestline, Ca. Choir director Kevin Tison and the choirs jammed three weeks worth of rehearsal in two days to prepare for their winter concert at the Segerstrom Center of the Arts.

“Retreat was absolutely incredible. It’s one of the things in choir that everyone looks forward to every year, without fail. Singing for 17 hours in a short weekend is a lot to handle, but what makes it all worth while are are the friendships that are strengthened and the memories that are made,” said Kali Green (’15), a Concert Choir member and student accompanist.

The group spent about many hours singing in Whittier Hall, the Thousand Pines chapel. The preparation included seven songs ranging from classic to newer songs. Throughout the weekend the group perfected their songs and grew closer as a whole.

“Our rehearsals went really well and I’m excited for everyone to hear us at the Holiday concert.” said Emerald Nguyen (‘15), a Concert Choir member and Choir Board president.

The choir also participated in other activities the camp offers, including zip-lining, paintballing, and visiting the Malt Shop.

“Choir retreat was a great way to bond with other members of Concert Choir. Participating in activities such as the

zipline and the rope course, we became closer, which showed in our rehearsal,” said Kortnie Shaw (‘17), a member of Concert Choir.

Despite the hard work and hours of singing, the weekend was an exciting time and a great way to prepare for a
concert.“The retreat was amazing! We all had a really wonderful experience spending time with each other, getting to know one another better. We also were productive and got a lot of work done,” said Concert Choir member, Roxanne Watson (‘15).
