Fountain Valley Royal Regiment participated in a division-wide competition, battling against many others schools at Westminister high, this past Saturday.

The Royal Regiment has been practicing heavily due to their close loss at the last competition.

“I thought we were going to get first place. We’re going to win… I was kinda nervous though, which may have costed us along the way,” Justin Williams (’18) said.

Williams felt that with more practice that he could have performed better on the field.

“I was really proud of us, because our coach, Mr.Matthews, said we did a good job,  which he rarely does though he had a new stricter regiment for us on Monday,” Williams said.

The musicians of FVRR  performed well, earning seventh place in their division.

“We did a great job. We were up against some of the top ranked schools in the district. It’s true that we didn’t do as well as we all hoped. If we had more time to practice, I believe that we would have done extremely well, but still I’m proud of everyone who did their best,” Drum Major Domenic Desantis (’15) said.

Despite their loss, the FVRR worked and fought hard. The team thought that with more practice that they could have done much better and achieved a higher rank at the competition.

“I think we did good. We’ve prepped really hard for this, and I thought hard work will payed off. I was little nervous, but mostly confident in us,” Cathlynn Tran (’18) said.
