The Fountain Valley boys varsity golf team demonstrated outstanding effort and talent against their league matches against Newport and Marina High School. Ending in a close loss for both matches, the golf team continues to head out strong in their games. Advancing to their final matches, golf continues to show outstanding sportsmanship and rigor.

Head coach, Carter Keyser, led the varsity players to their determination while pushing the boys to their maximum potential. According to Keyser, the boys are working really hard out on the course, not allowing a bad shot or hole to ruin their round. With complete faith in the players, Keyser believes the boys can turn the league season around.

“My guys are really working hard. In the future, I just want my players to continue working hard and not taking anything for granted,” said Keyser.

Dismissing the loss to Newport Harbor, 211-194, and to Marina, 219-185, they boys keep their minds set on the game at hand. Varsity captains Chris Feltman (‘16) and Joey Huynh (‘15) continue to unite the team through leadership and determination to the sport. Both captains have been committed to the game, striving to complete their spring season with personal victory.

“As a team, I feel like we’re really growing. Although we lost some of our matches, I know that everyone had the determination to become a better player,” said Huynh.

Following the league matches were featured key varsity players Jesse Mooney (‘16) and Bailey Duda (‘15). Both varsity players contributed to the tight scores throughout the games, keeping the matches intense. The varsity players of the golf team continue to preview their talents and demonstrate their passion for the sport.

“This season has been extremely fun. We represented Fountain Valley well in such a difficult league. Overall, it’s been an awesome experience, and I’m sad it’s almost over,” said Mooney.

The boys varsity barons achieved great recognition for their strong efforts this spring season, and continue to leave their mark this year in sports.

“I’ve become very attached to this team. We have a great bunch of guys with outstanding character,” said Keyser.
