Boys varsity tennis managed to triumph against Huntington with a score of 10-8 on Thursday, April 30th.

The Barons managed to win against the Oilers, helping move them up to play offs in Sunset League. From the first rounds, singles and doubles managed to fight hard against Huntington and keep the scores of the overall games in their favor.

Great plays by doubles Dan Tran (’16) and Brandon Huynh (’16), as well as team captains Andrew Nguyen (’16) and Johnny Luu (’15) managed to help move the team along.

“The game against Huntington Beach was a fun match. I felt that we all tried our hardest, and that helped lead us to victory,” said  Tran.

Refusing to give the Oilers a lead, the boys played hard, hitting the courts with everything they had to keep their lead against Huntington. The singles managed to secure their own wins as well, but by the end of the second round, it was a tight lead against Huntington.  Using the lead to their advantage, the boys hit the ground running at the beginning of the third round, knowing that they couldn’t let Huntington pull ahead if they wanted to keep their win.

Though Huntington Beach played hard, the Barons still managed to pull ahead by a two game lead by the very end, winning the match against Huntington and helping them on their way to the League Playoffs coming up early May.

“I felt that the team has improved from the last time we’ve played against Huntington Beach,” said Brandon Nguyen (’15). “We’ve worked so hard and the results are showing and its important that the team continues to have this winning mindset for the years to come.”
