Each family has their own Thanksgiving traditions, but have you ever wondered what traditions other families have? We went around asking a couple of Fountain Valley Barons what Thanksgiving traditions they have, whether weird or traditional, and their favorite memory.

Dianne Bui ('18)
“My family, we don’t usually have a set tradition like most people. They think that Thanksgiving is about eating or going out with friends but me and my family usually go out to a soup kitchen and help out. I feel that giving back is important,” said Dianne Bui (’18).
Adam James Mancini ('17)
“We sometimes, not every year, have gravy fights. My parents put gravy over pancakes and my brothers throw gravy at each other. [My best memory] Having my whole family around the table and being thankful for each other was nice,” said Adam James Mancini (’17).
Chris Meyer ('16)
“We put names under plates and everyone at the table gets a different name and we have to say something we’re thankful about to the other person. When I was about 13 or 14 years old, my cousin said, ‘You’ll learn the art of eating when you’re still full’,” said Chris Meyer (’16).
Moiz Memon ('17)
“We have Thanksgiving like five days in a row. So I have Thanksgiving at my aunt’s house and we have it at my house and then we have it at my uncles house. So it’s like Thanksgiving for a week. It’s pretty cool and weird too,”said Moiz Memon (’17).

“Last year my mom burnt the turkey, the stuffing, the sweet potatoes and everything else. My dog ate some of it too cause it fell on the floor. So we bought Del Taco and it was a really good Thanksgiving dinner,” said Kaylee Sandys (’17).

“We have a marshmallow casserole. It’s got sweet potatoes on the bottom and marshmallows on the top and it’s really good. Being at Thanksgiving with all of my family at the table is always a great memory to have,” said Johnny Bernardin (’17).

About Sandra On

Cello player for the FVHS orchestra, historian for Friday Night Live, member of Illumination club and is a Gryffindor; Sandra On is one busy Junior. On top of all that, she sings, plays the cello, and plays the piano for her band The Treble Theory. "We're working on an album right now. Pretty proud!", said Sandra. Sandra loves pretty much any Indie music, any genre. Even Irish folk classic! She also enjoys punk, alternative, and classical music. Criminal Minds, Once Upon a Time and Blacklist are one of her many favorite TV shows. When it comes to movies, she doesn't really mind what the genre is. There's only one exception: "Any Nicholas Spark movies, I HATE! Absolutely do not like", said Sandra. Along with her musical talents and interests, Sandra has a mind for reading, filming and photography. Whenever she's travelling, she's always taking pictures. She has a YouTube channel, where she uploads vlog-type videos that aren't very dialogue heavy and focus more on the world rather than the person. In addition to that, she makes motivational videos. In her own words, "Videos that you watch and get inspired by. This could be you, why are you sitting here doing nothing?". To Sandra, Baron Banner is yet another way for her to get involved at FVHS. She loves writing and wants to tell a story about the school. People get misconceptions, and she wants to write the truth. After a reserved freshman year and a year of outgoing reformation in 10th grade, Sandra is ready to start realizing her true potential in her junior year as a Baron.
