MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18th:  

Congratulations to Amanda Hay!  Her dance choreography entry, “From Just a Dream to Freedom for All,” was selected as a winner in the PTSA’s Reflections art competition at the Huntington Union Council level.  She will now compete against other entries in PTSAs throughout Orange County. Good luck Amanda!

Barons! Come on down to the bowl today at lunch to enter yourself in our Ugly Sweater Contest! Winner gets a free ticket to Pack the Gym dance.  Don’t miss out!

The cafeteria is hiring dependable students to work during lunch time.  Please ask for Mrs. Murphy before first period.

Congratulations to the Varsity Boys’ Soccer Team for winning the Irvine Team Challenge with a convincing 8-3 victory over Irvine High School.  Chico Cardenas and David Volkert scored three goals each.  Ryan Erickson and Shayne Shubin added a goal to finish off the Trojans. The Barons are off to a fast start! The Barons are ranked #5 in Orange County and continued their dominance yesterday with their 5th shutout of the season beating Segerstrom 1-0. David Volkert scored his 5th goal of the season. The Barons are ranked 18th in the State and 45th in the Nation. Keep up the great work Barons.

Seniors, if you failed to order your Cap, Gown, Tassel, Graduation Announcements and Senior Remembrance items at school you may still order direct to the Company by mail or online until Tuesday, January 5th.  Extra ordering packets are available in the Activities Office. This will be your last chance to order these items.

Senior Barons, winter break is the perfect time to create your artwork for this year’s Grad night art contest. The theme is Knight of our Lives.  Fliers detailing rules can be found at the activities office or online at www.fvhsgradnight.com. Turn in submissions to activities or front office by Wednesday,  January 6th, at 3 pm. Happy holidays and Good Luck!!

CSF Movie night is happening tonight at 6 pm in the Cafeteria. Tickets will be $10 at the door. Rise of the guardians will be shown, and pizza and drinks will be provided. It will be a great way to start off winter break!

MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 16th:  

Congrats to our Seniors of the Month for December, Vivian Pham and Madeline Schultz!

Congratulations to Emily White for making the All-Tournament Team at the BK Classic.  Emily averaged over 10 points per game.

Congratulations to the Girls Frosh/Soph Gold Basketball team for their 20 point win over Costa Mesa. The team was led by Stacy Tran, Madison Thompson, and Sabrina Gabb. The Barons also received strong performances from Rebekah Farnum and Chloe Dinh.

Fountain Valley Girls soccer hosted preseason matches vs. visiting Godinez High School yesterday.

Our varsity team tied 1-1 with a first half goal by senior captain, Leigha Williams.  It’s Williams’ third goal on the season and she has scored in back to back games. She tallied the game winner in a 1-0 victory against Murrieta HS this past weekend at the HBHS All Turf Tournament.  The Junior Varsity squad also earned a convincing 2-0 win over Godinez with goals by Jackie Rodriguez & Veronica Walsh. Goalkeeper, Heli Faris Qara Ali recorded the clean sheet, in the shutout victory.  All three levels play their next matches this Thursday as Varsity and JV travel to Estancia High School in Costa Mesa while Frosh/Soph hosts Cypress.  GO BARONS!!

Congrats to Girls Water Polo for destroying Los Amigos Tuesday night. Varsity won 13-2 and JV won 26-2.

Congratulations to Fountain Valley’s Virtual Enterprise Class McMarketing for making it to the state Business Plan Competition in Bakersfield.  Good luck to Carson Capanash, Kevin Merkle, Niko Lewis, & Ashton Mann in the final rounds.

Hey Barons, dress up days continue tomorrow with 1990’s Throw it Back Thursday, get those flannel shirts, combat boots, band t-shirts and other grunge inspired apparel.  Then we will finish off the week wearing your Ugly Sweaters on Friday.  

Seniors, tomorrow is the deadline to order your transcript through parchment. Transcripts will not be processed during Winter Break.

Today is the last chance to see the Vocal Music Program present its annual holiday concert, “Home for the Holidays”. There is a special student matinee performance today at 4:30 pm along with the regular showtime at 6:45pm at St. Wilfrid’s Church in Huntington Beach.  Admission for students at the 4:30 performance is a small food item, toy or blanket to be donated to a charity organization for the holidays.  If no donation, the charge is $5 for admission.

That’s the theme for Grad Night 2016, and this year’s Contest for Best Art Design has begun!   We need a drawing depicting our theme and as usual, we’ll be giving the student with the winning design a free ticket to the 2016 Grad Night Party!  Submissions are due January 6th, but don’t put it off!   Fliers outlining this contest are available at the Activities office or at fvhsgradnight.com. Hey Barons, we are counting down the days until Winter break. Get into the Holiday spirit by participating in the following dress up days for Winter Week!  Turtleneck Tuesday, Holiday HatWednesday, Throw it Back to the 1990’s on Thursday and finish off the week wearing your Ugly Sweaters on Friday.  Can’t wait to see what you all come up with!

Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Soccer team for going undefeated in the Irvine Challenge tournament. The Barons were led by Zack Young who scored three goals in the tournament. Goals were also scored by Ryan Erickson, Andrew Rubio, David Volkert, and Ali Shah. The Barons will play Irvine high school tonight for the silver championship game. Good luck barons!

Congratulations to our Varsity Wrestlers who placed at the Scott Davis Invitational this past weekend. Medalist were: Keiti Iakopo 5th place; Merrick O’Donnell 2nd place; Karson Ayres and Blake Vasquez won their divisions.  For the 2nd week in a row, Blake was awarded most valuable wrestler of the tournament.

Your Boys’ Basketball are Champions!  Varsity won the Valley Christian Tournament Championship through their values of never quit attitude and team-first mindset.  Your Barons competed back after being down 17 points to beat Bonita 66-61. Matt Serven had 21 points and 10 assists. Spencer Serven had 15 points and 10 rebounds. Mike Lightbody had 9 points and 6 rebounds. Sean Huynh had 9 points and took over the point guard position for us as our starting point guard was out injured the whole tournament. Josh Gray and Jake Loundenback each had 6 points. Matt Serven was named tournament MVP and Mike Lightbody and Sean Huynh were named All Tournament.  Boys’ basketball is now 8-2 overall.

Congratulations to our Roller Hockey Team on their 6 to 1 victory over Edison!

Congratulations to Kayla Borack and Vian Nguyen, both were selected to represent FVHS as our Disneyland Dreamers and Doers. Students were able to apply from categories such as Living Healthier, Strengthening Community, Conserving Nature or Thinking Creatively.  Both Kayla and Vian are excellent representatives and make us proud to be a Baron.

Are you earning B4L stickers?  If you have 10 stickers on your card drop it in the raffle bin in the Supervision office.  The next B4L raffle is tomorrow in the bowl at lunch.  You could win a $25 gift card of your choice.  Don’t have a B4L card yet?  Ask your teacher or stop by the Supervision window.  Winners must be at the raffle to win!

MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR FRIDAY, DECEMBER 11th:  

Congrats to the November Seniors of the Month, Katrya Ly and Claire Pritchard!

Congratulations to our Boys and Girls Athlete of the Month for November – Hanh Pham– Girls Tennis, despite major injuries and illness to start the season, Hanh was named Sunset League Singles Champion, MVP of the FVHS Varsity tennis team, MVP of the Sunset League, and was recently named OC Varsity Female Athlete of the Month, Hanh finished 34-1 this year overall!  For the boys, Keiti Iakopo and Chad Olberding, Football – Chad and Keiti were recently named Defensive and Offensive Players of the year, respectively, for the Sunset League!! Keiti and Chad served as co-captains and led the Barons back to a second place finish in league and a birth in the West Valley Division playoffs for the second time in three years. Congrats to our Athletes of the Month!!!

Congratulations to the boys’ soccer program for sweeping Santa Ana high school on Wednesday.  Varsity beat the #2 in CIF and  #3 team in Orange County 2-0 with goals from Ryan Erickson and Zack Young assisted by David Volkert. Slater Kucera recorded his third shutout in four games. JV won 1-0 behind Christian Cortez’s lone goal.  Frosh Soph won 3-2 with two goals from Chris Mendoza and one from Josh Farris. All three teams are 3-1 respectively. Great job Barons!

FVHS competed in the Sunset League Surf All-Star Championships on Wednesday December 9th in pumping surf.   FVHS achievements are as follows, Womens Shortboard Finalist – Giovanna Scandone in 6th Place; Men’s Longboard Finalist – Drew Nordfelt – 6th Place; Women’s Longboard Finalist – Giovanna Scandone – 4th Place.  The Women’s Junior Varsity Finalists were Lauren Bainter – 4th Place, Riley Anderson – 6th Place and in Bodyboard Finals – Tim Knowles – 4th Place and Ashton Mann – 5th Place.  Honorable mention went out to Noah Hafen for advancing to the Quarter Finals in men’s shortboard.  Coaches Wells and Hafen ripped the bag out of those waves and earned a solid 4th place (out of 4) in the coaches heat!  Thanks go out to all of our surf all stars.’

MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 9th:  

Boys Basketball continues to win with an 11 point victory last night and move to 6-1 overall. Final score was 51-40. Mike Lightbody had a double double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Matt Serven had 14 points and 6 rebounds and Josh Gray had 10 points and 4 rebounds. Our starting point gaurd was out injured and sophomore Jake Bitzer and Sean Huynh really stepped up leading the team at the point.

The swim team has their last tryout tonight at 5 PM.  All varsity boys swimmers need to check in with Coach Nichols in room before during 6th.

There is ONE Saturday School before winter break and it’s this Saturday in the cafeteria.  Saturday School starts at 7:30 and ends at 11:45.  Late arrivals are not admitted.

MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR MONDAY, DECEMBER 7th:  

Boys’ Basketball off to one of the best starts in the past 20 years of the program with a 5-1 record!  They beat three higher ranked teams in a row capping with a resounding 22 point win over Laguna Hills and won the championship in their first tournament. Thanks to all the alumni who came out to the championship game. Congratulations to Matt Serven on being selected first team all tournament and to every player on the team for being committed to team-first basketball.  A special Congratulations to Varsity Boys Basketball Player Mike Lightbody on tying the School Record with 9 three pointers in a single game!

Girls Frosh/Soph basketball picked up 3 wins in the Marina Tournament. The team was lead by Lily Hurtado, Desiree Le, Abbey Friedman, and Nicole Wilson. Coach Kayla is proud of the teams hard work.

Our defending CIF champion wrestlers began their season over the weekend at The Westminster Classic where they competed with 40 other teams and had 5 placers. Medalist were, Tin Nguyen 8th place, Dylan Nguyen 6th place and Karson Ayres finished 2nd.  Seniors Gunner Brisbine and Blake Vasquez were Champions.  Blake was awarded Tournament Most Outstanding Wrestler! Additionally, Karson, Blake, and Gunner are all ranked in the state in their Weight classes.

Huge overtime win for Boys Basketball against a much higher ranked team. Great play by Josh Gray and Jake “Juice” Garrett. Boys Basketball is 3-1 and plays in the semi finals tonight at Century High School.

Seniors order your Cap, Gown, Tassel, Graduation Announcements and Senior Remembrance items next Tuesday, December 8th by the Cafeteria from 7:00  to 1:00.  Ordering packets were mailed to the homes of all Seniors.  A sample of your schools Custom Graduation Announcement is on display now in the Activities Office.  Senior Ring orders will also be taken and delivered in 6 weeks. Extra ordering packets are available in the Activities Office.

Seniors – today, Dec. 4th is the last day to apply for the Huntington Beach Elks Scholarship!! For other scholarship info and deadlines go to College and Career web page on the FVHS site!!!

Auditions for the spring musical, The Wizard of Oz will be held on December 8th and 9th after school in room 307.  We are looking for anyone and everyone interested in performing; singing, dancing, or acting.  Please see Mr. Zick or Mr. Tison for information.  You can also visit the FVHS theatre website for audition information.  See you there.

Hey Barons, it’s time to get cozy in FVHS themed pajamas!  Senior Commission will be selling pajama sets and onesies until December 7th.  Designs and order forms can be found in all your classrooms.  Turn in your orders to the financial office by December 7th to get your very own Baron pajamas.

Freshman Commission is selling Class of 2019 Sweatshirts, they are $25.00.  Order forms are in Freshman English Classes.  Last day to order is December 11th.

Attention all Seniors – Are you ready for the “Knight of Our Lives”? That’s the theme for Grad Night 2016, and this year’s Contest for Best Art Design has begun!   We need a drawing depicting our theme and as usual, we’ll be giving the student with the winning design a free ticket to the 2016 Grad Night Party!  Submissions are due January 6th, but don’t put it off!   Fliers outlining this contest are available at the Activities office or at fvhsgradnight.com. MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 2nd:  

Congrats to both Varsity and JV Girls Water Polo for crushing La Quinta last night!  Shoutout to Jamie Tran, Alexis Perez, and Amanda Blake for being the JV team’s top scorers in their 23-2 win.  Shoutout to Hannah Baldridge for putting away 5 of the Varsity team’s goals in their 10-4 win and to the entire Varsity team for playing fantastic defense!  Come support the teams next Tuesday at Ocean View when they take on Lakewood.

Boys Basketball earned their second thirty point victory last night.  Our Team was led by shooting tandem of Matt Serven with 20 points and Mike Lightbody with 29 points. Josh Gray scored 15 points and defense was led by lockdown defenders Sean Huynh and Jake Bitzer.  Boys basketball moves to a 2-1 record.

FVHS Girls Soccer opened their preseason play yesterday against visiting Woodbridge HS of Irvine. JV captured a 2 goals to 1 victory while Frosh/Soph also won their match scoring 2 goals and shutting out the Warrior offense.  Come on out and support both teams this weekend as they compete in the Charger Cup at Edison High School!  Good luck Barons!

Congratulations to the Boys Soccer Program for sweeping Pacifica in their first game of the season. Varsity, behind Chico Cardenas two goals and Slater Kucera’s shutout, beat the sailors 2-0. JV won 3-0 and Frosh/Soph won 5-2.  Great jobs Barons!

Your mighty Royal Regiment fell just short at their last competition of the season before the holiday break and were only one-tenth away from their rivals. Their efforts earned them a Silver Medal as well as High Visual Effect, High Music Effect, and High Color Guard. This heartbreaking loss comes on the heels of another fantastic season for the Regiment. Way to go Band! You’ll get ’em next year!

Barons!  Come out to the gym during lunch today to see some of your fellow students battle it out in our annual Ping Pong Tournament.  If you signed up, please check the bracket in the Activities window to see when you play. Contestants who are playing today come early to warm-up, games start at exactly 12:25 and if you’re late, you’ll be disqualified. Good luck and have fun!

The percussion section is looking for a few good people to join them for their upcoming winter season. They have openings in both battery and front ensemble. There will be a clinic after school on Thursday in the Band Room. No experience is necessary to join. Remember come to the band room after school tomorrow and sign up for percussion!
