The boys varsity tennis team battled it out against Fountain Valley’s rival Edison. The boys played hard and demonstrated their intensive training against the Chargers.

“We trained very hard this season. We also knew some of the players on Edison’s current lineup. We were confident ours was stronger and were confident that we could win,” said Ali Rehman (’16).

The boys crushed Edison with a final score of 13-5.

While they dominated their first game of the week, they could not risk getting to relaxed. The boys had to play against Marina High School next.

The boys took a much more cautious approach to Marina in comparison to their game against Edison. Marina’s lineup against the boys was much stronger and had our Barons running across the court.  Against players like Maxwell Cancilla, who is ranked 34 nationally, the boys struggled but fought as hard as they could.

“I knew it would be a very tough match against Max,” said Rehman. “But I tried my best to tire him out for his next matches.”

Despite the tough match against the Vikings our boys were able to rally and score some of their own points. While the boys did lose, they ended the match with a close score of 10-8.
With their season over the boys were able to end with a tied score of five wins to five losses.
