On Sept. 21, the boys and girls cross country team took on the rest of the Sunset League at Huntington Beach Central Park in a three mile race.

Our girls varsity team showed off their team chemistry, finishing first in this race. Top performers were Kristen Prado(17’), Sara Fietz(19’) and Ashley Faller(19’), who finished fourth through sixth overall.

“I think we did pretty well staying together as a pack and we used each other to push each other,” said Prado. “We really came through and finished on top.”

The boys varsity team fought hard despite being down three of their top runners, finishing fifth in the race. Top performers were Marc Tadros (18’), Tanner Grohman (18’) and Justin Schmidt (17’).

Despite their performance, the top male finisher for Fountain Valley, Tadros, still feels confident that the team can pull through this season.

“I feel like Sunset League Finals is going to be a lot better, because this race we didn’t have all our guys. Some of them were sick, I’m sick myself, but we still came through, and honestly for Sunset League Finals I think we can win it easily,” Tadros said.

With confidence and team morale running high, we hope to see the team carry that energy over into the rest of the season and hopefully bring home the Sunset League Title this year.
