After a tough battle against Troy High School on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Santa Ana Courthouse, Fountain Valley (FV) Mock Trial came out on top. FV is currently undefeated, 3-0, taking a win after destroying Troy High School.

The third round of the preliminaries started with a performance by pretrial attorney, Jane Liu (‘18),  who paved the way for the rest of the trial. Then attorneys Evelyn Hoang (‘17), Hannah Brine (‘18), and Kyla Alberto (‘18) took the stand. Through their strong directs, all attorneys had a great moment to shine. During Troy’s cross-examinations, there were many objections made by FV, most of which, were sustained.

Despite this victory, FV Mock Trial hopes to further improve.

“I think it honestly was a great performance, but there’s always room for improvement and things we could have done better,” said captain Ally Lenguyen (‘17).

After the trial, attorney Kyla Alberto (‘18) earned an MVP nomination awarded from the defense for her strong cross-examinations.

Other student nominations from scoring attorneys and the opposing side include Kyla Alberto (‘18), Ryan Ash (‘19), Hannah Brine (‘18), Helen Dang-Vu (‘19), Evelyn Hoang (‘17), Jane Liu (‘18), and Taylor Nguyen (‘18).

FV Mock Trial is on stand for the defense on Thursday, Dec. 1. This will be the last round of the preliminaries, and it will determine whether or not FV will be part of the top 16 for the playoffs.
