On Tuesday, the Fountain Valley girls varsity softball team swung high and managed to snag a win from the Chargers with the score of 5-3.

The Lady Barons worked hard from the beginning of the game, hitting the ground running and making every swing count to try and gain the momentum of the game. Edison fought back in kind, matching the Barons point for point as the game took off at a rapid pace. The Barons managed to pull a double run in the first inning thanks to a tremendous team effort, along with a great hit by Madison Primrose (’17).

“I am really happy with how the game went and am proud of how well we competed. I’m excited that my last game against Edison ended with a win and am proud of the team,” said Madeline Domingo (’17).

Towards the second half of the game, the Barons worked hard to try and keep their lead. Edison managed to win a few runs off of them, keeping up with the tied score. Thanks to quick communication throughout the defense in the outfield and strong pitches by Sarah Johansen (’18), the Barons pulled ahead with a two run lead and managed to keep the lead for the rest of the game, beating the Chargers.

“I felt really good about the game because the whole team was super into it so our energy level to win was really high,” said Stephanie Tsai (’17).

Feeling that there is still room for improvement, the Barons are hitting the field and rising up to the plate to stay in shape. The FVHS girls varsity softball team is working hard to prepare for their next game against Marina.

“I think that we could improve on our base-running to be smarter on the bases and avoid tags and pick offs. We did a great job of getting girls into scoring position and then having timely hitting. After this game, we are feeling strong and confident for our game against Marina on Thursday,” said Domingo.
