Celine Hoang: Editor-in-Chief

By Laura Le, Business Manager

The internet is filled with memes like “Get you a girl who can do both.” But what about the girl who can do it all?

When Celine Hoang (‘18) comes to school each morning, she can be seen waving to her fellow peers as she swings her lunch bag back and forth to match the rhythm of her gait. Even in the early hours of the day, she’s ready to take on anything that comes her way with a smile on her face.

In addition to being a friendly face that stands out among the crowd of Fountain Valley High School (FVHS) students, she’s one of the most determined people. At FVHS, Celine is currently the Online Editor-in-Chief of Baron Banner, Historian of National Honor Society and Vice President of Make-A-Wish.

After she graduates, Celine would like to attend either one of two of her dream schools, George Washington University located in Washington, D.C., or Trinity College, located in Hartford, Conn. Although she isn’t sure about what she wants to study yet, she’s certain she wants to learn about people from different cultures and religions.

“I want to see something different from Orange County and experience a different lifestyle because both are big cities rather than in the suburbs in Orange County,” said Hoang.

Although she aspires to become a real estate lawyer, it’s not the only goal she wants to accomplish in the future.

“I just have a lot of jobs I want to do. I don’t think I could just do one job for the rest of my life because I want to be a lawyer, but I also want to work in real estate and create my own makeup company,” said Hoang.

Her dream to start her own makeup company is rooted from her beliefs that makeup should be affordable to all and catered to all skin types, including sensitive skin. “I want it to be real, I want it to be natural and I don’t want to people to have to put toxins into their bodies anymore or have to compromise their health just because of their financial situation,” said Hoang.

In her free time, Celine likes to roam the databases of Crunchyroll and Netflix in search of a new show to binge watch. Currently, her favorite shows are House of Cards, Grey’s Anatomy and Blue Spring Ride.

Creativity is one of the many characteristics Celine embodies, which is prevalent in her hobbies. She loves doing art, more specifically, creating do-it-yourself projects with her friends and writing food reviews. She also has a passion for fashion like no other.

“I love fashion because it allows me to be creative and it has taught me confidence which, believe it or not, has also helped me improve in Baron Banner. I’ve learned that if you cannot be confident in something you wear, you will not look your best; the same thing goes for Baron Banner. If I’m not confident in what I say or when making a decision, it will never be made and I can’t be a leader,” said Hoang.

In addition to being artistic, she is also an active person who loves to spend her days at the beach or hiking. This summer, Celine recently travelled to the Caribbean Islands where she loved learning about the island culture and its history. Celine does her best to eat a healthy and balanced meal each day, but also emphasizes the importance of treating herself.

Although reading and learning may be tedious to some, Celine enjoys doing both. Her favorite book is The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon. “It’s about how everything happens for a reason, and I’m a huge believer in that because I can go back in my life and think, ‘if this didn’t happen, then this wouldn’t have happened’,” said Hoang.

When Celine isn’t trying new things, she’s checking her daily horoscope to see what the future holds in store for her.
