South Park Episode Review: Jewpacabra

South Park

April 4th’s episode of South Park entitled “Jewpacabra” was somewhat of a disappointment. The episode covered the holidays of Passover and Easter during which Cartman is on the hunt for the ever elusive Jewpacabra which is “like a sasquatch, but… a little more greedy”.

While the episode did have a few good laughs, a lot of the jokes fell flat.

There were moments that I did like such as the scenes with the paranormal specialists. It was a great stab at shows like “Monster Hunters” and how stupid they are.

Cartman’s tranquilizer induced vision of The Ten Plagues in ancient Egypt had a lot of great commentary on the Hebrew and Christian visions of God. Cartman having the Sooper Food agents take him to the Bahamas just to have an excuse to go on the Atlantis slide was somewhat entertaining as well.

Aside from those highlights, most of the jokes were generic Jewish jokes that really didn’t do much for me. Considering this was a religious episode, I was expecting a lot more considering Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s (directors/producers) track record with episodes like this in the past.  My overall score for this episode would have to be a 6.7/10.
