With no coach and a new season approaching, the girls’ varsity volleyball team was in need of a head coach who could pull the team together. Taylor Packer is a Huntington Beach High School alumni who saw potential in the Barons and applied for the job. Now, Packer runs the program at 25 years old with her head high and future championships in mind.

During her childhood, when Packer wasn’t in school, she would be in the gym practicing her sets. Being surrounded with different coaches all the time, she realized coaching was the job for her. Volleyball has been an important factor in Packer’s life and without it, she wouldn’t have the successful career she has now.

“I played growing up and through playing and having different coaches, I realized a good coach can make a big difference in a students life, other than just teaching them volleyball,” said Packer.

Packer believes that this season should be focused on learning and growing rather than focusing on their record wanting a win. Packer wants the team to acknowledge their own weaknesses and assess it in games.

“I am very excited to work with this group of girls. I want to teach them that on any given day, anyone can win the game, you just have to believe and try your hardest,” said Packer.
