Here are your morning announcements for Thursday, May 28th, 2015:   

SENIORS, It’s time to order your final transcript for college, including Common App.

Go to parchment.com and follow the instructions.  Under Processing Time –Select “Hold for Grades” If you have any questions, see the Registrar.

Senior Barons, it’s almost time to “Light up the Knight!” and you don’t want to miss the party! The deadline for purchasing your Grad Night ticket by mail is May 31st (postmarked.) After that date, tickets may only be purchased at the door for the increased price of $140–cash only.  Extra forms can be found onfvhsgradnight.com.  See you there!

Dancing with the Stars is this Sunday, May 31st in the gym at 6:00pm.  Get your pre-sale tickets from any football player, dance team member or Mrs. Allen for $5.00.  Tickets at the door are $7.00.

It’s almost the end of the school year, Barons. Say goodbye in the sweetest way possible by pieing senior ASB members! Come out to the bowl during lunchtomorrow, Friday, May 29th as these seniors get pied! Pies are only $1 each; don’t miss out!

Seniors, there is only ONE Saturday School before senior clearance.  Come to the cafeteria this Saturday and get cleared.  Saturday School starts promptly at7:30am and ends at 11:45am.  For everyone else, the LAST Saturday School this year is June 6th in the cafeteria.  Remember, you must have all detentions, campus beautifications and Saturday Schools served and slips turned in to the Supervision office by the last day of school to be eligible for a parking permit or lunch pass at registration in August.  Stop by the Supervision office window with your ID to check what you need to serve.  As a reminder, the detention and tardy policy is changing for next year.  Serve them now!

The season finale and the last BBN of this school year will air TOMORROW, May 29th during SSR.  Please note that this special episode will be slightly longer than normal BBN episodes.

Attention all students enrolled in or interested in AP Art History: Please come to a meeting at lunch on Friday June 5th in room 301.  Changes to the curriculum will be discussed as well as a bonus opportunity before the start of the year.  If you have questions, please see Mrs. Silvertooth.

FVHS Seniors you are all cordially invited to attend the Baccalaureate Graduation Ceremony on Sunday June 7, 2015 in the FVHS Bowl at 4pm. All family and friends are welcome to attend this event. Students must wear their cap and gown. Cake and punch will be served immediately following the ceremony.

If you are signed up to take the ROP Sports Medicine class next year, there will be a lunch meeting on Wednesday June 3rd in room 226.

This will be a wonderful night with great music. Please join us for our last concert of the year. Ticket prices: $15 Preferred; $10 General Admission; $5 Students with ID. Tickets sales will be outside Room 307 on Friday, May 22nd and Wednesday, May 27th from 12:00pm-1:00pm and also at the door on the night of the concert.

Red Cross is having it’s bi-annual blood drive this Wednesday, May 27th. Seniors can get government hours for blood donations. You must be 17 years or older and at least 110 pounds to donate. Sign-ups are outside of room 405 today, next Monday and next Tuesday.

Morning announcements for Friday, May 22nd, 2015:   

Congratulations to the Varsity Baseball Team for their 1 to nothing win over El Modena yesterday. Travis Burleson pitched 9 shutout innings to get his 5th win of the season. The defense played their best game of the season which was led by Stephen Fedele throwing out a runner at second base from the right field fence. The offense was led by Michael Murphy and JT Navarro who had two hits. The Barons won on a walk off walk by Justin Mazzone. Scoring the winning run was JT Cobb. The Barons will play the #1 seed J Serra on Tuesday. Location is yet to be determined. The Barons would like to say “THANK YOU” to all of the students and faculty members that came out to support. The players were very excited to see the wave of students that showed up.

Congrats to our June Athletes of the Month, Stone Escobedo for Wrestling and Valerie Holler for Volleyball and Soccer!

Congratulations to Mahdie Diab, Rotary Student of the Month!

Congratulations to golfers Brooks Clarkson and Chris Feltman for qualifying for the second day of league finals. Chris shot a 73 and Brooks a 75 to advance. Way to go Barons!

The swim season wrapped up with an amazing weekend at C.I.F.  We had 9 girls competing in 14 individual events and 3 relays. Carly Perri and Shayla Erickson both had top-9 finishes.  The boys had 10 swimmers competing in 16 individual events and 3 relays.  Our senior studs Sam Knott and Josh Bernardin had top-18 finishes and Justin Nguyen had 2 top-9 finishes.  The boys finished with 6 team records and 1 League record and the girls finished with 3 team records and 1 League record.  Checkout our website: fvhsaquatics.org for a full season recap and Summer camp info.

Congratulations go out to the girls varsity 4×400 relay team who advanced to the CIF Championships on Saturday.  The team was composed of Annelise Doer, Natalie Grohmann, Mistina Gonzales, and Aly Bebout.  The girls ran 3:52.18 which is the second fastest time in school history and third overall in CIF Division 1.  Natalie Grohmann continued her strong season by also qualifying for the CIF Championships in the 800 meters with a season best time 2:12.  The girls will run this Saturday at Cerritos College in an attempt to qualify for the CIF Masters track meet.

Attention all Baron Baseball fans- please come on out this Thursday @ 3:15 to the Varsity Baseball field to watch your Barons take on El Modena High School in the first round of the CIF playoffs– see you there!!!

There are THREE Saturday Schools left this year.  Seniors, there are only TWO before senior clearance.  The next one is this Wednesday, May 20, in the cafeteria.  It begins promptly at3:30pm and ends at 7:45pm.  Bring a snack to get you through the evening.

Will you be a junior or senior next year?  Do you want to get a parking permit or off campus lunch pass?  You must have all detentions, campus beautifications and Saturday School assignments served and turned into the Supervision office by the last day of school to be eligible during registration in August.  Stop by the Supervision office window if you have questions.

The Vocal Music Broadway concert “Dancing Through Life…Still” is taking place at the Calvary Church in Santa Ana on Friday, May 29th at 7:00pm.  The concert will feature all of our high school choirs, plus  special performances from our Troubadours. This will be a wonderful night with great music. Please join us for our last concert of the year. Ticket prices: $15 Preferred; $10 General Admission; $5 Students with ID. Tickets sales will be outside Room 307 on Friday, May 22nd and Wednesday, May 27th from 12:00pm-1:00pm and also at the door on the night of the concert.

FV Barons Softball gets big win over HB Oilers 3-1 with RBI’s by Audrey Beck and JacLynn Sheppard.  Megan craft gets the win allowing only 5 hits and 1 earned run while recording 5 strike outs and getting player of the game.  Great Job ladies!  Next game is Thursday vs. Newport. Come out and support Barons Softball for the last game of the season and our senior day.

The Pep Squad showcase is this Friday night, May 15th at 7pm! Come out and see several routines from our cheerleaders and songleaders along with some special guests. Tickets are $5 at the door. Doors open at 6:30pm. See you there!

Congratulations to the Varsity Baseball team for their win over #2 ranked Huntington Beach. The win keeps the Barons in 2nd place. Travis Burleson pitched 6 strong innings and JT Navarro picked up the save. Pierson Loska once again came up big. Pierson hit a grand slam over the left centerfield wall. Willie Aguilar blasted a two run homerun in the 6th. The win clinched a birth in the playoffs for the third straight year. The Barons travel to Newport Harbor on Tuesday. With a win, the Barons will finish the year in 2nd place.

Congratulations to the varsity baseball team for their walk off win last Friday. After losing a tough game on Wednesday, the Barons bounced back to beat Los Al 4-3 on Friday in 10 innings. Mark Tucker and Travis Burleson held Los Al to 6 hits. The Baron offense was led by JT Navarro who went 4 for 4 and was on base all 5 times. With one out in the bottom of the 10th, Pierson Loska doubled and scored JT Navarro. The Barons remain all alone in 2nd place with a showdown against Huntington Beach this week.

Congratulations to Fountain Valley’s Virtual Enterprise class McFly Hoverboards for another award winning competition last week.  They won 3rd Place in Best Franchise Sales, 3rd Place in Presentation, 5th Place in Business Plan, and 4th Place in Auction Package.  Great job on a very successful business year!

The JV Baseball Team handed Los Alamitos their first loss of the season with an 8 inning, walk-off win on Wednesday. Trevor Staffieri scored the game winning run and the Barons won 8-7 over the Griffins. Isaac Campbell, Miguel Larios, and Trent Sievers quieted the Los Al bats and the Barons offense hit the ball all over the field with key hits by Ryan Foster, Justin Yang, Nick Taylor, and Blake Mielke. Congrats to the Barons for ending the Griffins win streak.    

Barons – come watch as Baseball plays Los Al today at 3:15pm and clear up to 4 detentions.  Check in and out with Mr. Lamar.  Please bring your ID!

Prom Tickets will be on Sale next Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday only.  The “ONE DAY ONLY” best price sale is Tuesday, May 5th.  Tickets will be $70.00 with ASB or Super Baron and $75 without per person.  The Financial Office will be open from 7:30am to 5:00pm on this day only.  Wednesday ticket prices are $80.00 with ASB or Super Baron and $85 without and Thursdayticket prices are $90.00 with ASB or Super Baron and $95.00 without.  You must bring your ID and Clearance slip from Supervision to buy tickets.  Buy Early and save!!

It’s time for the Annual Dancing with the Stars event!!  This event is a fundraiser for Football and the Dance Team. Dancers and football players have already selected a teacher to dance with and TODAY at lunch they will randomly be assigned a theme.

Come to the bowl at 12:30 today to hear which styles will be assigned to each pair of dancers!!  The dancers then have 4 weeks to practice and will perform at the event on May 31st in the gym at 6pm.  Pre-sale tickets are $5 from a football player, dance team member or Mrs. Allen and tickets are $7 at the door.  See you at lunch time today!!

Seniors — Baron Academic Foundation is looking for two FVHS seniors to award $500 scholarships. If your GPA is pretty good AND you can show a commitment to helping your community at school or outside, pick up an application for the “Meg Kelly Scholarship” at the front desk or at the College and Career Center, or look at the FVHS.com web site for “Foundation”.  Applications are due by Friday May 15th.
