An upcoming photographer and avid illustrator, Claire Duong is a senior who loves her friends, family and music.

Duong wanted to join Baron Banner because of her love for drawing, and she has always wanted to be a part of something big.

“I decided to join Baron Banner because I was very interested in drawing and now I picked up an interest in photography, and I kind of want to hone my skills by joining this class,” Duong said.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Duong cultivated her talent for drawing and even posted her creations on Instagram. Her favorite genre of illustration is still life.

When Duong isn’t snapping pictures or creating a masterpiece, she takes time to hang out with her friends. Duong loves to drive around the city, exploring new places. She describes herself as a very curious and inquisitive person.

“I’m very curious. Like, I like to ask people a lot of questions,” Duong said.

Duong’s role model is her older brother.

“[My brother] worked very hard and a lot of teachers recognized that. And I just grew up with him and he taught me a lot of things,” Duong said.

Duong is motivated by her love for her parents. In the future, she hopes to provide them with comfort and happiness.

“My goal is to make my parents happy in the future. And by that I mean like, I’m going to help them retire,” Duong said.

But, even with setbacks and obstacles, Duong always stays true to her values and tries her best to always be authentic.

“The most important thing is just to be yourself,” Duong said.
