MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR MONDAY, NOVEMBER 30th:  

Congratulations to the Mock Trial team for finishing a strong season! They won their last round against J. Serra High School. MVP for the round was senior attorney Claire Pritchard and outstanding performances were given by senior attorney Antony James Nguyen, and witnesses Mazie Wilkerson and Taylor Nguyen. Congratulations to the entire team! Go big Red!

Congratulations to Boys’ Basketball on their clean sweep for all levels beating Mission Viejo and beating Westminster by thirty points. Great team play by everyone, Go Barons!

Seniors, plan to order your Cap, Gown, Tassel, Graduation Announcements and Senior Remembrance items next Tuesday, December 8th by the Cafeteria from 7:00  to 1:00.  Ordering packets were mailed to the homes of all Seniors.  A sample of your schools Custom Graduation Announcement is on display now in the Activities Office.  Senior Ring orders will also be taken and delivered in 6 weeks.  Extra ordering packets for Caps, Gowns, Grad Announcements and Senior Rings are available in the Activities Office.

Attention all Seniors – Are you ready for the “Knight of Our Lives”? That’s the theme for Grad Night 2016, and this year’s Contest for Best Art Design has begun!   We need a drawing depicting our theme and as usual, we’ll be giving the student with the winning design a free ticket to the 2016 Grad Night Party!  Submissions are due January 6th, but don’t put it off!   Fliers outlining this contest are available at the Activities office or at fvhsgradnight.com. Seniors- today is the deadline to apply for November and December Seniors of the month.

Boys Volleyball is having a Rummage Sale this Saturday, December 5th from 6am to 1pm in the FVHS front parking lot.

Freshman Commission is selling Class of 2019 Sweatshirts, they are $25.00.  Order forms are in Freshman English Classes.  Last day to order is December 4th.

Hey Barons, it’s time to get cozy in FVHS themed pajamas!  Senior Commission will be selling pajama sets and onesies until December 7th.  Designs and order forms can be found in all your classrooms.  Turn in your orders to the financial office by December 7th to get your very own Baron pajamas.

Attention parents–the December Grad Night meeting has been CANCELLED.  The Grad Night Committee wishes you Happy Holidays and hopes to see you at our next meeting on January 6th, 2016.

Due to road work, parking on Dolphin Street will not be available from this Wednesday, November 11, through December 31st.  Please make alternate arrangements for parking during this time.  Only vehicles with valid parking permits may park in the lots at the LDS church, Valley Vista High School and Fountain Valley High School.  Vehicles parked in those lots without valid permits will be ticketed.

Do you have what it takes to be Senior of the Month?  All you need is a minimum 3.0 GPA, no honor code violation and no school suspensions.  Turn in an application highlighting your leadership, club memberships, athletic accomplishments or performing arts involvement!  The Honors Commission reviews all applications and selects the top two Seniors each month–ARE YOU THEIR NEXT SELECTION?  Senior of the Month Applications are available in the Activities Office or online at www.baronactivities.com.  Applications not chosen will be reconsidered each month.  If you need to amend your original application, please see Mrs.Tait.  Please do not submit more than one application.

 

MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16th:  

It’s time… Time to go back to the 80’s.  This Thursday we are throwing it back to the 80’s.  So get out your florescent shirts and leggings, put on your leg warmers, put your hair up and strut out the 80’s. This Thursday the 19th!

Congratulations to William Hua who raced in the Cross Country Division 1 CIF Prelims on Saturday.  William placed 8th overall in his heat.  He ran with the front pack the whole race and finished with a time of 15 minutes flat for three miles.  William advances to the CIF Championships this Saturday at Mt. Sac College.  If William finishes in the top 5, he will be just the second individual in Fountain Valley history to qualify for the State Championships.  Good Luck William!

Any football players interested in joining Wrestling must check in with Coach Woodbury at 2:00pm today in the wrestling room.

The Mock Trial Prosecution put up a valiant fight last Thursday night at the Santa Ana courthouse against Valencia High School but lost the round by a single point.  Opposing counsel voted Antony Nguyen MVP for the round.  Additional noted performances were given by Claire Pritchard, Mazie Wilkerson, and Jane Liu.  Well done prosecution and good luck defense Tuesday night!

Seniors, the countdown to submitting your college applications is on! If you are applying to a Cal State or a UC you must submit your application by Nov. 30th!  Do NOT miss this deadline! Remember you must also send your official SAT scores from your College Board account to the colleges you are applying too.  If you have any questions stop by the Career Center and talk to Mrs. Wakeman. Also SENIORS: Transcripts will not be processed during the Thanksgiving Break.  All unofficial and official transcripts must be ordered through parchment.com, no later than this Thursday, November 19.  See the registrar if you have any questions.

Are you applying to any private colleges thru the Common App? Remember to send your transcript to Common App using your Common App ID#. If you have a Dec. 1 deadline you need to request your transcript now thru Parchment. Don’t forget to turn in your activities packet to Mrs. Wakeman in the Career Center.  Serve or get served. Test out your skills for ping pong by signing up today during lunch in front of the Activities Office to be entered in our annual Ping Pong Tournament. Entry fee is $5 dollars. Don’t miss out!

The PTSA meeting is tonight in the media center at 7:00 p.m.   Please join us to learn more about the ROP program and classes offered.  Our principal, Dr. Smith will also be there to give us an update on what is happening at our school.  All students, parents and teachers are invited to come!  We hope to see you there.

Hey Class of 2018!  Sophomore Commission is officially selling baseball tees for the school year. Please check your English classes for order forms. Order forms and cash are due 11/20 and can be turned into room 221 or any Sophomore Commission Board member.

Baron Baseball’s 3rd Annual Golf Tournament will be held on Nov. 23, 2015 at SeaCliff Country Club in Huntington Beach. Check-in is 9:30am. It’s $175.00 per golfer, but Baron Baseball is offering a $100.00 discount for foursome sign-ups. Even if you don’t golf, you can come to dinner for $30.00 per person. There will be a delicious menu, and great auction and raffle prizes.  You can register online at FVHSBaseball.com.

Good Luck to our Mighty Barons Football team as they travel to Murrieta Valley tonight for the first round of CIF!  Go Barons!

Congratulations to our October Athletes of the month –

William Hua, Boys Cross Country – This season William has finished in the top 10 in the first four races of the season including a 3rd place overall finish at the Sunset League Preview meet.  His time of 14:54 for THREE miles at the Dana Hills Invitational is 7th all time in Fountain Valley history and is the fastest 3 mile run by any runner in the Sunset League this year.  William was also recently elected All Sunset League 1st team, ran in the CIF finals and was elected team MVP.

Melissa Kittredge, Girls Golf – Melissa maintained a scoring average under 43 this past season, which is 5 shots better than last year. She was also in the top 6 in Sunset League in points. She was a team captain and has taken many of the new players under her wing. She was voted 2nd team All-sunset League and team MVP.

Congratulations to the Mock Trial team! They won their first round Tuesday night against Woodbridge high school’s renowned team. Outstanding performances were given by the entire defense team. Noted performances of the night were given by Leah Phillips for her pre-trial argument, attorneys Gina Le and Ally Lenguyen, and expert witness Anthony Cort. Congrats to the entire team and good luck to the prosecution team Thursday night!

The swim team will have their last tryout Wednesday December 6th @ 5 p.m. and all water polo athletes interested in joining the swim team need to check in with Coach Nichols today in B4 during 6th period.

Come support your Mighty Barons as they take on Huntington Beach in their last league game of the season.  Kick off is at 7:00pm at Westminster High School.  Go Barons, beat the Oilers.

If you’re interested in joining or have already tried out for the swim team come by room 231 at lunch.

The ONLY Saturday School opportunity in November is this weekend.  Bring your ID and homework to the cafeteria this Saturday at 7:30am and plan on staying until 11:45am.  Late arrivals are not admitted.

Baron Baseball is having a Christmas Holiday Fundraiser, deadline for trees, wreaths and garlands has been extended to today, Friday, Nov. 6.  Tree delivery is scheduled for Dec. 5 at the FVHS Parking Lot. Please turn in your order forms and payment to Coach Deric Yanagisawa in Room 114. You can also turn it into the Varsity Snack Bar at 3:00 pm. Varsity plays against Gahr High School at 2:30 pm.
