Here are your morning announcements for Friday, April 14th:

Congrats to our Athletes of the Month for April, Cora Davis, track, and Trent Sievers, baseball!

Congratulations to Boys Tennis for beating Marina!  Varsity won 16 to 2 and JV won 17 to 1. Go Barons!

Congratulations to the Boys JV Golf team for their impressive win over Marina this week.  The Barons were led with great play by James Do, Ethan Nguyen, and Sean Iida.  Keep up the great work boys

Congratulations to the Varsity Baseball team for their win against 1st place Marina yesterday. Nate Wilson earned his first sunset league victory. Justin Mazzone and Justin Yang led the offense with two hits each.  Next monday, April 17th at 3:30pm, our varsity baseball team will be playing Los Al at Anaheim Stadium. It’s a unique opportunity for high school teams to play at Anaheim Stadium. The game is FREE and parking is FREE. Seating will be first come, first serve.

Senior Barons, if you haven’t purchased your Grad Night ticket, don’t delay!  Tickets will be sold on campus April 26th during lunch for $130.  Bring cash or check and your signed release form.  See fvhsgradnight.com for more details.

FVHS is celebrating Earth Day on April 29th with a campus beautification.  We will be weeding, planting, adding mulch and beautifying our campus.  This will also clear TWO SaturdaySchools!  Wear your work clothes, bring gloves if you’d like and get ready to get dirty while making our campus beautiful.  Come to the Supervision window if you have questions.

Barons – the last day to guarantee you get one of our amazing yearbooks is April 28th.  Don’t get left out!  See Val in the financial office to order one, cost is $100.00.  If you have a Super Baron card, your yearbook is taken care of.

Attention Seniors attending UCI-Check out the Stanley Behrens Scholarship due Friday April 14th. Find it on the UCI Financial Aid Website, also on the FVHS College and Career website under scholarships along with many others.

Seniors! If you are attending any Community College and need help with the Financial Aid process head to Orange Coast College this Saturday. They will be hosting an entire morning to walking students and parents thru the FAFSA and the Financial Aid process. Bring last years tax returns and come between 10am to 1pm, they are there to help!

Meg Kelly Scholarship Applications, sponsored by the Baron Academic Foundation, are available beginning today at the College & Career Center, the front office and online.  You must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and you, or a parent, must be a member of the Baron Academic Foundation for this school year, 2016-2017.  Make sure to complete all sections of the application and have a teacher/sponsor sign it as indicated.  The applications can be turned in to the front office or at the College & Career Center.   Remember, the deadline for turning in the scholarship application is May 19th!  (To find it on the website, start from the FVHS site, choose the “Parents” dropdown and then click on “Foundation.”)

Hey Seniors, Robyne’s Nest Scholarship forms are available in the Career Center.  They are due back no later than Monday, May 1st.  Also, if you want to participate in the Robyne’s Nest “Dress a Senior Event” please see Nurse Marci for details.

Here are your morning announcements for Wednesday, April 12th:

Softball gets big win over Newport Harbor. Both Varsity and JV scored big over the Sailors!  JV won 20-4 and Varsity won 19-1. Next up the Barons are at Los Alamitos on Thursday.  Good luck ladies!

Boys Volleyball played against a very tough Edison team.  All the sets were very close for all levels, but the Barons fell short.  Varsity is right there and ready to start winning some close matches.  Go Barons!

Congratulations to Boys Tennis on their massive win over Edison!  Varsity won 16 – 2 and Frosh won 14 -4!  Great job tennis.

Interested in trying out for our award-winning Pep Squad?  There is a mandatory parent/guardian meeting tonight in the cafeteria at 7.  You must attend this meeting to be eligible to try out. Congrats to our Seniors of the Month for June, Khoa Phan and Tim Shimizu!

Congratulations to Virtual Enterprise who placed in the top 16 out of 573 in the Nation at the New York National Business Plan competition.  They also won a Gold Medal in Sales Materials.  Great job Off the Grid we are very proud of you!

Softball finished the Woodbridge Tournament, Varsity going 4 -1 with wins over Garden Grove, Silverado, Cerritos and El Modena to win the Silver Division Championship.  Sarah Johansen, Zoey Berg and Madeline Domingo named to the All Tournament Team.  JV ended the tournament with a win over Woodbridge and a late inning loss to King HS.  Next game is Tuesday at Newport Harbor

Auditions for the final theatre production of the year, the hysterical comedy Rumors, will take place in room 309 Monday afternoon at 3:00.  If you are interested in acting or working back stage, please see Mr. Zick.

Boys and Girls Track beat Huntington Beach on all levels. Both varsity teams are now 3-1 in league competition. Strong performances were turned in by Taylor Armour, Maddie Jahshan, Aime Le, Maddie Taylor, Warren Cha, and Billy Ngo.

Come cheer on your Boys Volleyball team tonight as they take on the Los Alamitos Griffins.  Game time is 5:30, the snack bar will be selling Chick-fil-a… Go Barons!

Don’t forget to vote for Teacher of the Year.  Today is the last day, please vote during your 3rd period class.  Let your teacher know why they deserve to be Teacher of the Year.  (Parents, voting ballots are available in the Administration Office).

Congrats to our Seniors of the Month for May, Monet Favreau and Michelle Nguyen!

The Dance Team had a strong finish to their competition season this past weekend at USA Nationals. All teams performed exceptionally well and made FVHS proud. The large jazz team placed 3rd in their category and the small hip hop team competed in the championship category, made it into finals and placed 3rd!!! Great job to all dancers!!!!

Outstanding performances last night by our Aquajocks as they took on Huntington Beach High School. The Girls came out on top, winning at all levels with great performances by Cassie Koger, Victoria Wilcox, and Lauren Gergens . The Open Boys defeated HB, but unfortunately, the JV and Varsity teams fell short. Exceptional races on the men’s side by Brandon Bees, Jimmi Arroyo, and Kai Fujita. Good luck to all levels next week as they compete against Newport Harbor at home.
The Boys Volleyball team was very close in all 3 matches last night against Newport Harbor and were stoked that they battled the best team in the league as well as they did.  The player of the match was Downey Huynh.  We are very proud of how well the Frosh team, under Coach Robert Le, has been doing. They won the Silver Division at the Tustin tournament and beat Huntington Beach last Friday.

It’s time for Teacher of the Year election.  Elections are this week Barons, please vote during your 3rd period class.  Let your teacher know why they deserve to be Teacher of the Year.  (Parents, voting ballots are available in the Administration Office during said days).

Meg Kelly Scholarship Applications, sponsored by the Baron Academic Foundation, are available beginning today at the College & Career Center, the front office and online.  You must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and you, or a parent, must be a member of the Baron Academic Foundation for this school year, 2016-2017.  Make sure to complete all sections of the application and have a teacher/sponsor sign it as indicated.  The applications can be turned in to the front office or at the College & Career Center.   Remember, the deadline for turning in the scholarship application is May 19th!  (To find it on the website, start from the FVHS site, choose the “Parents” dropdown and then click on “Foundation.”)

Have a passion for film?  Interested in learning more about video production? Want to cover news around campus?  Then apply for BBN! Applications have been extended and are now due April 23at 11:59 pm. For more information, go to bit.ly/BBNApps2017. No experience necessary so don’t be afraid to join the team!

Are you interested in journalism? Have an eye for photography but don’t know where to start? Do you like graphic design?  Baron Banner is looking for writers, photographers, designers, and cartoonists for the 2017-2018 school year. Barons – the last day to guarantee you get one of our amazing yearbooks is April 28th.  Don’t get left out!  See Val in the financial office to order one, cost is $100.00.  If you have a Super Baron card, your yearbook is taken care of.

The FVHS CAPPIES Team is still going strong.  Congratulations to Sharon Chen for getting her review published in the OC Register.

It’s time for Teacher of the Year election.  Elections are this week Barons, please vote during your 3rd period class.  Let your teacher know why they deserve to be Teacher of the Year.  (Parents, voting ballots are available in the Administration Office during said days).

ASB Executive applications are due this Wednesday.  Apps are available at baron activities.com

Attention all Freshmen female athletes… tomorrow, April 4th and Wednesday, April 5th you will need to meet in the gym at 8am to complete the California Physical Fitness Test required by the State of California.  Please come in workout clothes and arrive on time.  Freshman Male Athletes will be tested at a later time.

Baron Games shirts go on sale tomorrow, April 4th for $6 at the financial office.  Get yours soon because they sell out quick!!!

Seniors, looking for community service points for graduation?  Grad Night committee needs able-bodied students to join us this Saturday, April 8th, from 11 am – 1 pm.  We’ll be cleaning out our bins located at the back gate near the tennis courts.  See you there!

Hey Seniors, If you are planning on going to a community college you must take the math and english placement test. Sign ups are in the College and Career Center, you must have applied to a community college and have a Student ID. Questions come to the College and Career center.

Attention all students: if you are struggling in math, science, English, social studies​ or world languages, and are in need of tutoring help, stop by the new After-School Academic Assistance Program (formerly known as Homework Club) in the Media Center on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays, from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. ​Tutors ​are​ available each day- no sign-ups necessary.

​You can also ​clear up to 3 detentions each session you show up at, if you stay for the entire session and are studying or receiving tutoring !
