Is your back feeling sore? Are you tired of carrying your heavy books across campus? Can’t carry another bag any longer? Well, look no further. PALS  allows you to Rent-A-Senior for them to carry your bags all around campus. Any senior of your choosing is eligible for Rent-a-Senior.

“I think it’s a really fun and cool program this year. Personally, I would laugh so much if one of my friends rented me but, it’s really nice knowing that the money is going to a really good cause,” said Emily Tong (’17).

The event was created by the Peer Assistance Leadership (PALS) class at Fountain Valley High School (FVHS) in an effort to raise money to go towards seniors as expenses for events such as senior cruise and prom. With the goal of seniors helping seniors, PALS hopes to fundraise money to reduce the cost of senior events to give every student a chance to get the “senior experience.”

In addition, PALS looks to providing financial aid to low-income students struggling to pay for senior expenses. If any seniors are experiencing trouble with the expenses of senior year, they can visit Nurse Marcie in the office to find out more about financial assistance.

Seniors who have been rented will be personally emailed by Senior Commission asking for their participation in this program. They have the right to refuse or agree to the service. If they do refuse, the person who wanted to rent the senior will have the choice of choosing another senior to rent.

Seniors who decide to participate in Rent-A-Senior will be rented the entire day. They will be allowed to leave/arrive late to their periods because they will be carrying another student’s bag during passing period. The senior will be carrying the student’s bag every passing period of that specific day.

“I think this is actually a really cool way to fundraise for money. I didn’t rent a senior this year but, I totally regret it. It’s a really smart move to raise unusual for seniors and I think it will be really successful. I hope they have this again next year so I can be rented,” said Ithar Abdalla (’18).

Underclassmen and seniors are encouraged to contact any PAL member for more information about the Rent a Senior event.
