Here are your morning announcements for Wednesday, November 30th:     

Mock Trial had another strong showing last night at the Orange County Courthouse. Congratulations to the prosecution team for a case well-fought. Special recognition goes to Seth Caraballo, John Le, Ally Lenguyen, Divya Seth, Kaitlyn Truong, and Adam Mancini. Good luck Thursday night, Defense Team and Go Big Red!

Our Varsity Boys’ Soccer team opened non league play Monday with a 1-1 tie to Pacifica. Jackson Oulette scored the equalizer with a minute left in the game. The JV team also tied 1-1 while the Frosh Soph team won convincingly 9-0. Great job Barons. Good luck today at home against Trabuco Hills

 The Lady Barons Varsity basketball team played relentless defense last night holding St Margaret’s to only 5 first half points allowing the Barons to cruise to a 40-25 victory. The tenacious defense was led by seniors Remi Chicoine, Esther Rodriquez and Emily White.

 Seniors plan to order your Cap, Gown, Tassel, Graduation Announcements and Senior Remembrance items next Tuesday, December 6th by the Cafeteria from 7:00  to 1:00. Ordering packets were mailed to the homes of all Seniors.  A sample of your schools Custom Graduation Announcement is on display now in the Activities Office.  Senior Ring orders will also be taken and delivered in 6 weeks.  Extra ordering packets for Caps, Gowns, Grad Announcements and Senior Rings are available in the Activities Office.

Seniors- Reminder UC and Cal state applications are due today!  The clock is ticking so don’t delay submit your application before midnight, if you have any questions or concerns see Mrs. Wakeman the College and Career Center.

 

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Orchestra is having a Movie Night this Friday, December 2nd in room 310 (the band room) starting at 6:45 PM. Tickets are $3 and you can buy them from any orchestra member!There will be special performances before the movie, Home Alone, starts with food and drinks available.  We have attached our flyer below.

Boys’ Varsity Basketball won their home opener last week 80-54 against Firebaugh High School. Senior Sean Huynh led the team to victory with defense and passing, also adding 10 points. Senior Mike Lightbody scored 26 points, junior Paul Vu and Sophomore Garrett Young each scored 10 points, and Senior Cody Newsome added 8 points. Thank you to everyone who came out over the holiday break.

Congratulations to the Mock Trial team for their 2 wins two weeks ago. The team is now 2 and 0. Notable recognition goes to Kyla Alberto, Helen Dang Vu, Evelyn Hoang, Taylor Nguyen, Jane Liu, Ryan Ash, and Sasha Stepanov for their outstanding performances.  Good luck Tuesday night, Prosecution team and Go Big Red!

Attention all students: if you are struggling in math, science, English, social studies​ or world languages, and are in need of tutoring help, stop by the new After-School Academic Assistance Program (formerly known as Homework Club) in the Media Center on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays, starting November 29th, from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. Student tutors will be available each day- no sign-ups necessary.

If you are considering taking an ROP class this spring semester, now is the time to sign up.  The holidays are right around the corner and registration will be done right after we return from winter break.  Please see Ms Sanders in the Career Center with questions and to sign up for a class.

Tick tock, tick tock seniors. The countdown is on for your Cal State and UC Applications. The due date is two weeks away on Nov 30th. Try to finish them up and submit during Thanksgiving break. If you have any questions please see Mrs Wakeman in the Career Center.

Both Ashley and Alexandra are excellent representatives and make us proud to be a Baron!

During School Yearbook pictures, there was a camera malfunction.  If you receive a call slip in your 4th period class today, please make sure to go to the Media Center tomorrow during your scheduled time to have your picture retaken.  There is also a list posted in the Activities Office Window, please check to see if your name is on it.

It’s Red Ribbon Week, hosted by FVHS’ Friday Night Live! Tomorrow is Lei-off Drugs Thursday, come decked out in your Hawaiian wear!  On Friday, come to school in red to show your drug-free pride!  Also make sure to come out to the bowl to participate in fun LTAs and have the chance to win great prizes!

If you are considering taking an ROP class this spring semester, now is the time to sign up.  The holidays are right around the corner and registration will be done right after we return from winter break.  Please see Ms Sanders in the Career Center with questions and to sign up for a class.

On Friday, the Girls Cross Country Teams survived the heat out in Riverside advancing to the CIF Championships. The varsity team consisted of Anna Goeller, Madeline Jahshan, Kristen Prado, Ashley Faller, Bridgette Guerra, Isabella Guerra and Sara Feitz.  Great job ladies!

Hey Barons! Think you’ve got what it takes to be this year’s ping pong champion? Well show us what you’ve got at our annual tournament. Sign-ups start TODAY in front of the activities office at lunch!

Baseball tryouts are this Wednesday through Friday at 3:15pm. Please bring a hat, glove, cleats and wear proper baseball attire. If you have any question, please see Coach Y in room 114 before 1st period.

Red Ribbon Week, hosted by FVHS’ Friday Night Live, is here Barons! Congratulations to the Fountain Valley comedy sports high school league for their stunning upset victory over Irvine High school Friday night

Boys’ Varsity Basketball continues to win!  Even with missing three starters due to SAT testing, the team still found a way to win, earning a thrilling one point victory over Long Beach Wilson with Sean Huynh getting the game winning steal and assist to Paul Vu for the winning basket and a terrific team defensive stop and rebound to seal the victory. All players contributed. Boys’ Varsity Basketball finished their summer league winning 85% of their games and just finished undefeated in pre-season play. Their first official game will be a home game in Berger Gym in two weeks.

There is a mandatory meeting today for all boys who are interested in trying out for the golf team. Come to Coach Keyser’s room. Room 107.

Seniors and Juniors, if you want to attend the College App Essay Writing Workshop today at 2:30 in the Media Center, you must have a permission slip to leave your 6th period class. Pick up a permission slip from the College and Career Center.

Attention all Football players that want to play basketball, there will be a tryout for fall sport athletes in the Gym Monday from 7:00 – 9:00pm.

The church parking will be closed starting tomorrow through Saturday, November 12th.  If you park in the church lot, you must find another place to park on the streets or make other arrangements to get to school during this time.

Our surf team had 2 contests this week against Marina and Edison.  Congrats to the following surfers in their respective heats:  Danielle Joly – 2nd and 3rd place; Delaney Millican – 3rd place; Lance Smith – 3rd; Luke Wells – 3rd and Noah Hafen – 2nd.

Congratulations Girls Volleyball for having a historical season! Taking 4th in League and making playoffs this year was a great accomplishment. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported.  Playing Laguna Beach HS, Amy Hinnant racked up 4 kills, Erin Finley had 6 kills and 1 ace while Phoebe Minch had 1 ace and 8 kills. Congratulations seniors for finishing with a great season!
