Water Polo drowned by Oceanview

Nick Frens scores against the Seahawks in the second half.

Boys Water Polo had another rough outing this week against the local Oceanview Seahawks losing 9-3. Looking to come out strong and set the tone of the game the Barons unfortunately fell a couple goals down early on.

By the end of the first quarter, it was 4-1. In the second quarter, the Barons adjusted their strategies; however, two shots hit the post and many shots were missed completely. The Seahawks, on the other hand, were much more accurate and were able to get closer shots on counter attacks, leaving keeper Joe Romo without a chance. At the half, the Barons were down a dismal 7-1.
With things looking down, Nick Frens (’12) tried firing up his team at half. The Barons responded by getting the first goal of the 2nd half. However, the boys could not hold Oceanview off for long and the third quarter ended 8-2. The Barons needed a miracle the last quarter unfortunately, it did not come; the Barons missed more shots to start the quarter. As the quarter went on, the Barons got a late goal and Joe Romo (’12) made spectacular saves, but the game was too far out of reach and Oceanview got one more for good measure.

The Barons will be looking to rebound from this most recent slump next against El Modena on the 29th. A good point to take from this game was the Barons never die attitude and captain Frens 3 goal effort. The Barons showed a lot of heart facing such a large deficit, and no doubt they will not want to have a better start next game and come out on top.
