Girls’ Keep their Heads in the Game

Johnny Nguyen, Staff Writer

Last Thursday night, our Lady Barons suffered a terrible lost against Warren High School. The match ended with Kelcie Mayott (’12), Nicole Pletkovic (’12), and Morgan Bilbruck (’12) leaping up against the net for a block. However, they were duped with a conniving tip by the other team. The ball landed behind them and ended the third game at 20-25.

In the first game, the girls had a lead of four points with a score of 11-7, but Warren closed the gap stole victory away from them and won the game with a score or 22-25. It was a tough game, but our girls shook it off and moved on.

It was game two and our girls fought hard and put up a formidable fight and pushed themselves as far as they could. They were leading with 15-11, but Warren turned the table and pushed the game to 23-24, but the Barons weren’t willing to keel over and give up. In the end, Warren High School won due to frustration burning our girl’s eyes.

In game three, Coach Bau Peters anxiously walked back and forth on the sidelines, trying to help them in any way he could. After two losses in a row, our girls had a hard time bouncing back to playing their A-game. After some questionable calls by the referee and out-of-rotation plays, Warren breezed through the game and defeated our girls within an hour and a half.
