Anjin

To celebrate a birthday with my family, we all went to check out a nice, Japanese BBQ restaurant near South Coast Plaza called, Anjin. It’s tucked into a little plaza surrounded by other Japanese or Korean restaurants and stores. It’s best to get there early to avoid the long waiting list.

This Japanese BBQ restaurant is, of course, do-it-yourself and is definitely not an everyday lunch hangout spot; it can be a bit pricey. Anjin is perfect for special occasions with the family and friends. Now, on to the food! The must have dishes at Anjin are without-a-doubt the Marbled Prime Rib-Eye and Marbled Prime Boneless Short Rib. This heavenly meat is prepared thinly sliced and marinated in a mouth watering soy sauce mixture. This rib-eye and short ribs will have everyone at the table in a heated, stare down to see who can snatch it off the grill first. Have you ever tried beef sashimi? If not, the Beef Tataki is a must try and it might blow your mind. It’s served just like sushi and it’s as tender as meat can get.

The other dishes that might interest the seafood lovers out there are the squid and scallop dishes. They are so fresh and filling; it’s wonderful. They are perfectly complimented with the two dipping sauces that are already set at the table for you to enjoy. One sauce is a  ponzu/soy sauce and the other is a peanut/soy sauce; both equally deletable.

Whether it’s your first time trying Japanese BBQ or you’re a BBQ-aficionado, go try out Anjin for you next special occasion. You’ll either have a lot of fun trying to figure everything out or showing off your prodigy-like BBQ skills. I give Anjin four out of five stars. Pleasant eating!
