A Strong Spooky Start

This year the first Halloween Carnival took place at Fountain Valley High School. As a member of Habitat for Humanity, I attended to help out my club. And it seemed that so did a lot of other people.

True there were a lot of people, but were there really 682 attending as it states on the Facebook event? Probably not. In fact, many of the actual attendees were there because of their own clubs.

However, even if there weren’t  682 people, it is not doubt that there were quite a lot of people. This was especially evident when you looked at the long line for the Haunted Maze.

However, even though the line was very long, it was not boring because you had to constantly be on watch for the Chainsaw Guy, which brings up another point. The Chainsaw Guy, without a doubt, played his part really well. However, the chainsaw he carried smelled like gasoline and it was very loud. It was more annoying than scary for some people. In fact, people felt disrupted by it because if he was around, people would avoid him and therefore not go to the booths around the place where he was located.

The tickets were also an issue. The idea of having tickets was not a bad one, to get into the carnival spirit, yet many people missed the table and club members had to direct them to the table to buy their tickets.

Half the people who went back to buy tickets, never ended up coming back. The good thing about the tickets was the line. This is strange because normally, lines for tickets tend to be tedious and long. Yet on Saturday the lines moved fairly quickly and in an organized fashion.

The carnival was still fun, however, and if they had another one next year, I would definitely attend it. In all, although the carnival had some things it could improve on; it was an event that was enjoyable.
