Why You Should Go to the Bell Game

The Bell: Pitting Chargers against Barons each year.

It’s the best week of the year. Awesome dress up days, creative posters, and school spirit fill up Fountain Valley’s campus during the bell week. The grand finale is the Bell Game. The reason why the week is what it is.

There are so many students who have given up hope on winning back the bell, but there are so many more students who still have faith. To those who didn’t stop believing, I salute to you. It’s the people like you who make Fountain Valley such a great school. From the popular kids on ASB to the nerds who eat under a tree at lunch like me, the bell game unites all of us for a week. For one week we can all be a part of something bigger than ourselves. It’s a super feeling. Even though Edison has won six years in a row, it still won’t bring the Barons down.

“Even though we’ve lost every year I’ve been here, it’s nice to show our football team that they have the support of the school,” said Jenny Huynh (’12).

“Because it’s the best football game of the year, even if we do lose, we see the football players give it their all,” said Kevin Corvacho (’12), whom attended the Bell Game last year.

These are just two of over 3,500 Barons on campus and at the Bell Game you can expect a full house showing Fountain Valley’s strength, swagger, and support. As the seniors leave and the freshmen arrive, one thing remains constant, Fountain Valley High School’s pride.

The point of the Bell Game? The way I look at it, winning the Bell is important, but what’s even more important is to show that our school is better than Edison. How do you do this? Support your school at the Bell Game and stay spirited. Though we haven’t had the Bell for quite some time, we do a good job showing that our school is cleaner, classier, and much more spirited than Edison. I’ll be gone along with many seniors next year, but it’s up to you, the underclassmen to keep the tradition alive and prove each year that Fountain Valley is superior. Let’s bring home the Bell Barons.
