Adventure Couple: Edition 1

Welcome to the first installment of Adventure Couple. Our first adventure takes us for a nice trip down the California coast line, far enough to feel different but close enough to not burn a hole in your pocket.

This wonderful city is called Laguna Beach, a very beautiful city with a lively downtown, a great little beach, and a very prominent art culture (there are many festivals to look out for). However this is Adventure Couple, so we aren’t going for a city walk – we’re going to the TOP OF THE WORLD!

Yes, that’s right, the top of the world; it’s an expansive regional park that covers 6 miles and has a maximum elevation of 1,000 feet. All of these hills and trails either face the beautiful south county seascape or a lush coastal landscape which borders the beautiful Soka University.

If you and your partner or group are fervent mountain bikers, then the rolling hills and large dirt trails will suite you very well – the trails can be very steep at times and make for great riding. If you’re a hiker, this is also wonderful place; the trails are numerous and while there are maybe four or five large, main trails, there are many small side trails that lead every which way, especially on the inland facing part of the main hill.

At the bottom you will find two possible addresses which are situated on either side of the main hill. One address leads to the entrance to the park which connects to all the main trails, and is right next to the highest elevation of the park. This location also has tennis courts, basketball courts, soccer goals, and picnic tables, so bring a ball or whatever you may, to hang around a bit and just look around at the natural beauty around you and of course enjoy your company.

The other address leads to a school that you can park at, and although the main trails are not located nearby and the view is only toward inland, the area makes for good exploring if you have some boots and want to get into the brush a bit. In addition, there are also little trails here and there that you can follow.

Some tips you may want to consider.

Boots: the trails are all dirt and if you want to go a little off track, there will be a lot of brush, so wear footwear that has some traction and that protects you.

Camera: that will be a common theme on our adventures because photos are always a must, and there really are some amazing photo spots on this trip.

Julie advises to bring a puppy! I agree that this is a dog friendly trail and I have no doubt that a furry little friend will have a great time and as well as make great company.

We hope that you and whoever you bring on your adventure will have a unique and enjoyable experience. Afterwards, there are plenty of restaurants all along PCH and towards the downtown area by the actual beach. There will be no parking fees at Top of the World park; however, parking may be tough in the Laguna area, but it’s all an adventure, right?

So here are the directions all the way to the TOP OF THE WORLD!
