On Sunday, June 10, 2012, soon-to-be graduates and proud parents, friends and family gathered in the bowl at 4:00 p.m. under the shining bright sun to commemorate the annual Baccalaureate ceremony, an optional reception for the class of 2012 to come.

The students sat amongst each other in their caps and gowns, heard speeches from their principal and fellow Barons, enjoyed snacks and of course, took pictures.

Students began arriving two hours earlier to get their pictures taken with faux diplomas by PSS Imaging. The 2012-2013 KIWIN’s Board was on hand to welcome the senior arrivals at the front of the school.

Students listened to speeches by the new teacher of the year, Mrs. Fah, the master of ceremonies Matt Gasparo (’12) and Principal Herzfeld, as well as several other students and teachers.
Noelle Nguyen (’12) conducted the flag salute to open the Baccalaureate ceremony. Nguyen was followed by student speaker Jeffrey Wang (’12), who compared his walk through FVHS from freshman to senior to that of a hobbit from “Lord of the Rings”

Mrs. Troyer, the previous winner of the teacher of the year award, read from “the greatest doctor ever – Dr. Seuss”. FVHS Troubadours continued the ceremony with wonderful, albeit quiet performance of “The Road Home.”

The ceremonies ended with cake and punch being served in the cafeteria.

Everywhere, proud friends and family took pictures of their graduates, whether posing with friends, by themselves, with younger siblings, proud parents, under the enormous 2012 balloons on the stage, or with entire groups jumping in order to imitate the memorable High School Musical’s third and final film shot.

Overall, the class of 2012 gathered in the bowl for the last time, as speaker Quinton Dang (’12) reminded his fellow Barons. It was a bittersweet moment that Principal Herzfeld had experienced many times over, but for the class of 2012, it didn’t make it any less memorable.
