Football Loses Homecoming Game Against Newport Harbor

The anticipation of homecoming lingered in the air Friday night at the homecoming football game against Newport Harbor at HBHS, where the Barons lost in a closely fought game.

The Barons came out at a rough start with one touchdown scored against them early in the game. The first quarter ended with the one touchdown and a score of 0-7, with the Barons trailing behind the Sailors.

In the middle of the second quarter, the Barons were struggling to hold back Newport Harbor, letting them score another touchdown. However, in the very last seconds of the quarter, Wyatt Christensen (’13) scored a relieving touchdown from a pass from Chris D’entremont (’13), making the score 7-14 including the kick from Derek Huynen (’13).

Prepared to make a comeback, the Barons begin the fourth quarter hungry for some touchdowns. Nick Tipple (’13) scored a surprising touchdown from a blocked punt at the 12 yard mark. Just as the Barons were at a tie of 14-14, Newport Harbor came with another touchdown in just a few seconds, making the final score 14-21.

In the fourth quarter, the Barons found themselves caught at the 10 yard mark hoping for another touchdown to even up the score. Unfortunately, the team could not come through with any points, making Fountain Valley lose.

In the end, the Barons had lost with an extremely close score of 14-21.

Barons will go against Los Alamitos on Friday, October 19th at Westminster High School.
