Here are your morning announcements for Friday, November 30th:

The dance team Winter Show is this Sunday!!  That’s December 2nd, and it starts at 6:30pm in the gym. The dancers will be performing all of their competition dances for this upcoming season. Tickets are $5.00 pre-sale from dancers or Mrs. Allen in room 210 or $7.00 at the door.  Please come support the dance team and start your holiday season with some warm cheer and entertainment!!

Senior of the Month applications are still available in the Activities Office.  Applications will be due today for another consideration. If you have already applied, your application will roll over.

FVHS PTSA is excited to announce their 2012 Reflections winners!  We had two Award of Excellence winners Campbell Grihalva with his film titled, “Magic is the Key” and Katrya Ly with her story titled, “The Magic of a Story.”  The Award of Excellence winners works will be moving on to the District Level where they will compete to move on to the State Level.  We would also like to recognize Julienne Chiang who has received an Award of Merit for her artwork titled “When She can Be Anywhere and Valerie Chang who received Honorable Mention for her artwork titled “A Mother’s Tenderness.”  Congratulations to all of our winners!  We are so proud of you!

The ASB Ping Pong Tournament will begin next Monday at lunch in the gym.  The bracket sheets will be posted in the Activities Window on Friday.

Today after school the BBN is sponsoring a self-defense class. For only $10 you can learn from an expert on how to protect yourself and others from dangerous situations. Just show up at the cafeteria at 3:00pm after school and remember all proceeds go to help our own BBN.

The Fountain Valley Globe Theatre is almost complete, and that means it is almost time for this years fall play.  Come see Fountain Valley Theatre’s production of William Shakespeare’s classic comedy Twelfth Night.  The play opens with a student preview on December 4th and runs through December 8th.  Ticket prices range from $3.00 to $10.00 for Students and $5.00 to $15.00 for adults.  Tickets go on sale today at lunch in room 309.  See Mr. Zick for more information.  Don’t miss this crazy comedy of mistaken identity.

Seniors! Seniors! Seniors! If you are applying to the Cal State system or the UC system your drop dead due date is fast approaching! You must have your applications submitted online by this Friday, Nov. 30th!  Do NOT wait until the last minute, computer systems can crash or be overloaded. Submit your applications now! Remember today all UC and Cal State Applications must be submitted. If you have any questions see Ms. Wakeman in the Career Center asap.

FVHS Surf Team had a great match against Marina on Tuesday.  The Surfing Barons beat the Marina Vikings for the last regular season competition!  Way to go Barons!  Congratulations to first place winners: Kyle Knoke, Nathan Young and Johnny Richardson.  Congratulations second place winners: Colleen Millican, Trevor Lonergan, Richie Lopez and Aly Johns.  And Congratulations to third places winners: Neal Hall, Kaden Bruner and Colleen Millican.

Our Marching Band was truly on fire this past week.  FV is now the 2012 State Champions. Congratulations to our top three leaders:  Drum Major Anthony Ho, Color Guard Captain Courtney Taylor, and Percussion Captain Alexis Castro.  Along with the entire Royal Regiment, FV won this state title Saturday before the break near Hemet. The Directors, Mark Irons and Gary Wampler are very proud of these performers working so hard all season….  What’s next…  Disneyland !!

Congratulations to Boys Varsity Basketball for winning their first game of the year 96-62 over La Habra last Saturday.

Any sophomore or junior students interested in joining the Air Force Academy should come to the Career Center today at 12:00.. We will be hosting Major Tim Shields of the Air Force Academy. He will go over all the requirements to join and scholarship information. If you cannot attend then make sure you meet the Major outside the cafeteria at lunch today.

Hey Barons the ping pong tournament is back, today is the last day to sign up in the Activities Office.  Cost is five dollars and the tournament starts on the 28th.  There’s only 64 spots so sign up fast!

Want to diversify your college portfolio?  Need an extra elective?  ROP may be the answer.  It is not too late, Registration for Spring 2013 ROP classes is happening now.  Explore a Career through ROP and earn 5 or 10 elective credits.  Many classes include internships at local hotels, business and hospitals.  Take the next step to a fulfilling future, register for an ROP.  Please see Ms. Sanders in the Career Center to register.

Kick off Thanksgiving Break with Fountain Valley’s first ever Harvest Festival tonight! Come support your clubs, eat food, play games, and line dance with friends and family from 5 to 9 pm in the bowl.  If it is raining the event will be postponed.

Announcements 11-9-2012

Congratulations to golfer Lilia Vu for finishing 2nd in the state qualifier. Lilia shot 68 to qualify for the state championship that will be held on Tuesday. Way to go Lilia and good luck!

Attention all boy fall sport athletes, if you are interested in trying out for basketball, tryouts will be tomorrow morning at 11:00am in the gym.

This week FVHS Surf Team had two competitions, Wednesday against Huntington at the pier and Thursday against Edison at Tower 2.  We had some outstanding surfing, first place honors went to Nathan Young, Eric Tello and Aly Johns.  Second place honors went to Richie Lopez, Kyle Knoke, Eric Tello, Johnny Richardson and Cody Sizemore. Third place honors went to Kyle Knoke, Colleen Millican, Logan Hafen and Ian Hunter.

Come support your fellow students tonight at 6:00 in room 309.  Advanced Theatre will present a evening of scenes and songs.  Tickets are $5.00 at the door.  Come ready to laugh.  It will be a night of comedy and drama you won’t want to miss.

Hey Seniors!  Help make your year better by coming to Ms. Orr’s room at lunch for Senior Commission.  We will be taking our club picture and talking about the Harvest Festival.  Remember, Room 100; can’t wait to see you all there!

Announcements 11-5-2012

Here are your morning announcements for Monday, November 5th:
Our Marching Band just broke another historic FVHS record… Saturday the FVRR performed at the HBHS tournament competing against 35 schools.  FV not only took 1st place but won: best marching, best showmanship, best music, best color guard and best percussion.  That’s only 6 trophies…  THEN, the Regiment bused over to Irvine HS and competed with 22 more bands.  FV took 1st AGAIN and won all the captions collecting 6 more trophies.  Total trophies in one day is 12 and crushing all 57 other schools… including all sunset league schools…  Amazing!!   Join band or color guard now for the spring and you too can be one of the best in the state.  Beginners welcomed…

Attention Frosh Football players, just a reminder that equipment turn in and awards voting will be done today at 2pm at the Varsity Coaches office.

Freshman Baseball tryouts start today and continue through Thursday, November 8th.  Interested athletes should report to the freshmen baseball field at 3 o’clock wearing baseball attire, pants, shirt, cleats and a hat.
Boys Volleyball tryouts will be today and tomorrow from 2-4 pm in the gym.  All boys interested in playing volleyball need to tryout.  If you can’t be at tryouts, for whatever reason, you must talk to Coach Hanson before tryouts are over.

Congratulations to Erin Bola and Nikki Tran for having their Cappies play reviews in the OC Register.  This marks the second week in a row that Fountain Valley has had a review published. Congratulations.

Here are your morning announcements for Friday, November 2nd.

Congratulations to golfer Lilia Vu for finishing 4th in the CIF championships. Lilia has qualified for the

Attention all Boys interested in playing for the Boys golf team. There is a mandatory informational
meeting today at lunch in Coach Keyser’s room. Room 107.

Boys Volleyball tryouts will be held on Monday, November 5th and Tuesday November 6th from 2-4
pm in the gym. All boys interested in playing volleyball need to tryout. If you can’t be at tryouts, for
whatever reason, you must talk to Coach Hanson before tryouts are over.

Hey Barons, come out tonight, sit in the student section and cheer your Barons Football team on to
victory as they take on the Marina Vikings. Kick off is at 7:00pm at Westminster High School. Go
Barons!

Thank you for those who had participated in this year’s Halloween costume contest! Winner of the
scariest was a gothic girl with skull face paint, funniest was a boy who loved to eat candy, and most
original belonged to Brandon Khong with his stylish outfit. Raffle winner of Casey’s pledge belongs
to… Joye Nguyen! All winners, please come to rm. 205 after school to claim your prize.
Also there will be a lunch time activity so come see and watch juice pong!
