Advanced Theater performed a showcase of monologues and short scenes from various plays on  Friday night.

The minimalist set included a few black chairs and a table, with the actors dressed to match.

Audience members were greeted at the door by a comedic duo speaking gibberish. The show began with dark monologues, one in which a student dreams of killing his peers. There was also a scene from Les Miserables, performed by Hana Rohfeld (’16), and a few comedic acts.

“It was different and hard to understand. But once you got it, you really liked it,” said alumni Michael Rowe.

Mother Toni Cunningham was “surprised it was so dark-themed, but it was great nonetheless.”

The scene “Pepper Boy” included the entire cast, and none of the actors broke character despite the audience’s raucous laughter.

“It was very funny. I’m glad I came,” says Mr. Kofahl, a student teacher at the high school.

Proceeds from the showcase are to be donated to Mr. Herzfeld’s wife, Tammy Herzfeld, who went to Virginia for treatment.

Advanced Theater’s Twelfth Night production will premiere December 5th.
