Girls Tennis wraps up their season

Girls Tennis finished their season on October 18th. Although the season was over, the Varsity players were far from done with their practices and preparation for next year.

At the end of the season, each school is invited to send two or three doubles teams and two or three singles players to the Varsity Sunset League Tournament (there is another similar tournament for JV players).

Ruth Nguyen (‘16) and Demi Dang (‘14) played singles, but lost to opponents from Newport Harbor High School and Edison High School.

Stronger were the Baron doubles teams: Tia Wheelock (‘15) and Titania Nguyen (‘16) and Liz Pham (‘13) and Angela Nguyen (‘13). While Pham/Nguyen lost with zero games on the board, while Wheelock/Nguyen lost 1-8.

Although the girls suffered a very difficult, trying season, they continue to work hard.

Dang says, “I know we will do better next year. After last May, we lost a lot of our good Seniors, which made this season hard, but I know that our team continues to grow closer together and we will come out on top next year.”

The Girls’ overall record was 1-9, with the only victory being against Marina.
