From preseason to league, Girls varsity soccer has trained long and hard to get results. But despite outstanding p

layers in every position on the field, the girls unfortunately couldn’t manage to finish their shots to get more goals.

Overall the Barons finished with a record of 6-11-5, going 1-7-2 in the Sunset League, and placing last in league. They had 3 chances at the end of the season to clinch a third place spot that would have seeded them in much better position in the standings, but only was able to win the last game, a match against Marina.

Leading scorer for the Barons was Madison Gomez (’13) with 10 goals.

“Even with our poor results, we were probably one of the best teams in league,” said Gomez.

The Barons will lose 6 seniors this year, but return most of their starting team.

Fountain Valley played a very strong year and although their results did not show their passion, the Barons will feel confident about their chances next season and will look back on the 2012-2013 season with satisfaction.
