Comedy Sports debuted their first show of the year last Friday.

The performance took place in the theatre room, where about 50 chairs were set up for the audience. But even as chairs started to fill up, people continued to arrive.

The show was delayed as more chairs had to be brought in to seat all audience members, and many people who arrived late were left standing.

The first people to step onstage were alumni RJ Brownfield and Greg Weinreich. They currently serve as the improv coaches, and for this show they were captains of the two teams, blue and pink, respectively.

The collective teams consisted of Jeremy Flores (’14), Jake Wells (’15), David Wood (’14), Nikki Tran (’14), Daniel Julien (’13), Daniel Lynch (’14), Domenic DeSantis (’15), and Michael Peters (’15). Disappointingly, there was only one girl in the group.  Nonetheless, the teams still had great chemistry with each other.

One of the most impressive games of the night was called Freeze, in which two team members would act out a random scene based off of a word from the audience. As the scene progresses, team members that weren’t in the scene could call ‘freeze’ and and substitute themselves into either of the two current actors’ spots. From there, they would start a completely new scene based off of the body positions the previous actors were frozen in.

Many audience members attended to support the teams, expecting of a novice performance. However, by the show’s end, there was no doubt that the improv team had immense talent.
