Every year, Mrs. Silvertooth’s AP Art History class participates in a finger painting day. This year it fell on May 31, the day after their last test of the year. On Monday, the students cast votes on “Best in Show” and analyzed artistic skills.

Finger painting is a tradition that is looked forward to by the students of the class every year because it symbolizes a landmark. The tradition celebrates the end of AP week and the school year itself. It is also one of the few ways that the students get to showcase their artistic abilities without fear of being graded on the quality of their work.

“It was relaxing and I felt that I used a different part of my brain than usual – I loved it,” said Jessica Hanson (’13).

Mrs. Silvertooth ensured that all students participated in this activity because all of the students deserve an hour to be childish without having to stress about finals, projects, grades or graduation. Not only is it a break from reality for the students but a fun activity for self-expression.

This year the runner-up was Alex Moore (’13), and the winner of “Best in Show” was the student tutor Rosemary Nguyen (’13).
