Here are your morning announcements for Monday, September 30th:       

Our FVHS Marching Band is victorious again this year.  Saturday the FVRR performed against 15 other schools in So Cal, taking 1st place.  Our Percussion also placed 1st and our Color Guard took Sweepstakes over the entire tournament.

Under the command of Drum Major Bianca Singer, the FVRR will perform this coming Saturday at Glover Stadium in Anaheim at 7:15pm against even more schools.  Come see FV at one of our tournaments this year performing Water World for a packed stadium cheering for FV.

Hey Barons!  Don’t forget the deadline to submit your Homecoming Video is this Friday, October 4th. If you’re asking your date to Homecoming in a creative way, and you get it on film, we will be having the Homecoming Video Contest!  The winner will receive a pair of homecoming tickets! All videos must be under ninety seconds long, and submissions must be submitted to the form on the FVHS activities website.  The top three videos will be put into a poll to be voted on by students, and the winner will be announced at the Homecoming Assembly. 

Support our girls tennis team as they take on Edison this Tuesday for the game of the week!  Match starts at 3:15pm!  Go Barons!

National Honors Society is now scouting for new recruits. We’re looking for members who want to participate in school and community service activities, and who excel in the areas of leadership, service, and character. If this sounds like you, apply today! Girls soccer tryouts for all students including fall athletes, new and returning players will be begin today and run thru this Friday, October 4th from 3-4:30pm @ the Stadium Soccer Field.
Please bring cleats, shin guards, and water.

Attention all Freshman Football players we will meet in Coach Kral’s room at 2pm for film and remember to bring your grade checks.

Here are your morning announcements for Friday, September 27th:       

Congratulations to JV football for their stirring victory over Westminster yesterday afternoon 39-32. The game came down to a close finish but the Barons prevailed. Congrats boys.

As the sun set over Westminster’s Boswell Field, the Freshman Football Team opened the game with a 70 yard kick off return by Kallan Detloff.  The Lions showed their teeth early with a 1st quarter score, but were tamed by a host of defensive highlights leading to a 21-6 victory.  Big Game Hunters of the night were Nick Amarillo, Miles Wilkerson, David Livingston, Justin Martinez, Gavin Carter, and Angel Hernandez.  The Freshmen open up league in two weeks in a classic show down against the Marina Vikings at home.  Go Barons!!!

Varsity Football continues the Lion hunting tonight at Westminster High School.  Come support your Barons, kick off is at 7:00pm.  Show your ASB or Super Baron at the ticket booth and pay only $3.00

Congrats to the JV girls golf team for their 2nd victory over Estancia HS on Tuesday 9-24. The team was led by Mara James, Giovanna Scandone, Nichelle Nakasu, Natalie Pham, Lucy Nakashima, MariaToubbeh, and Stephanie Albuquerque. Great job ladies!

Congratulations FV Girls Tennis, Varsity beat Marina 13 to 5.  Tia Wheelock, Demi Dang and Katie Ho won all of their singles matches. The Barons advance to 9 -0 on the season!  The JV Girls won 10-8.  Giao Phan and Annie Pham won all of their doubles matches. They have only lost 1 match the entire season!!  Great Job Barons Girls Tennis!

There is only ONE Saturday School before Homecoming.  Come to the cafeteria tomorrow morning no later than 7:30 am with homework or a book to read.  Saturday School ends at 11:45 am.

 

The Supervision office will begin issuing Dance Clearance Slips on Monday, Sept 30th for the One Day SaleWednesday, October 2nd.  You must have zero unserved detentions, campus beautifications and SaturdaySchools to receive a clearance.

 

All students must have their ID card to receive a Dance Clearance Slip.

There will be Five dates to buy Homecoming Dance Tickets (while supplies last).

 

The first day will be a ONE DAY DISCOUNT SALE, this will be on Wednesday, October 2nd.  Prices will be $50.00 with a Super Baron or ASB Card and $55.00 without.  The Financial Office will be open from 7:00am to 7:00pm.

 

Then on Monday & Tuesday, October 7 & 8, the price is $65.00 with Super Baron or ASB Card and $70.00 without.  Financial Office hours will be 7:00am to 3:00pm.

Wednesday & Thursday, October 9 & 10 will be the last days to purchase your tickets.  Prices will be $70.00 with Super Baron or ASB Card & 75.00 without.  Financial Office hours will be 7:30am to 3:00pmYou must have an ID Card, Clearance Slip or Dance Contract to purchase tickets.

 

Please see the posters located on the Supervision window and outside of the Activities office for important information about clearing and purchasing dance tickets.

Finally, the Supervision and Financial Offices will not be opened during class time.

Girls Frosh/Soph Tennis won against University High School with a close score of 11-7. Katherine Dinh, Ashley Truong, Hannah Nguyen, and Victoria Lee won all their matches. A special shout out to Brianna Lau for fighting so hard.

Boys water polo can’t be stopped! Nice work to varsity on yet another awesome victory against John Bosco yesterday. YOU GO BOYS!!

College Fair! College Fair! College Fair! Our Districtwide College Fair will be at Edison High School on Monday, Oct. 7th. We will have over 90 colleges, military and vocational schools for you to visit and connect with. The fun starts at 7pm on Oct. 7th. See you there! (end 10/7)

Here are your morning announcements for Tuesday, September 24th:       

Congratulations to Ciera Keller and Emily Duong both were selected to have their drawings shown in the prestigious Saw Dust festival from over 1,000 entries this past summer.  The works were shown along side professionals from all over the United States.  After judging Emily was nominated as an Honorable mention.  Ciera’s wolf drawing placed 3rd overall.  Congratulations on an outstanding job, both of you.

Congrats to the JV football team for their overwhelming victory over Banning HS on Friday 59-20. The baron JV team takes on Westminster this Thursday at home at 3:15; come on out for a great game!!

Frosh/Soph Girls Tennis won against Junipero Serra High School with a score of 14-4. Katherine Dinh, Brianna Lau, Carolyn Le, Tiana Le, Ariana Nguyen, Jane Nguyen, Ashley Truong, and Emily Vi won all their matches. Great job ladies!

Over the weekend Boy’s Cross Country raced at the Woodbridge Invitational and David Abraham set the school record for 3 miles, running 14:46. Junior Robert Osorio was the 2nd man in 15:00 minutes, Galyn Nash was 3rd man with 15:12, and Sophomore William Hua ran 15:55 as the teams 5th scorer.  The team also broke the team time school record, running 76:14.  The Boy’s are currently ranked 4th in Orange County, 8th in CIF, and 22nd overall in State.  Sunset League Preview is this Wednesday at Central Park and then the Barons are at Dana Hills High School on Saturday.  Way to go Cross Country!

Congratulations to the girls cross country team who opened the season ranked 7th in Orange County. Over the weekend they competed at the Woodbridge Invitational. Valerie Stark led the way running a personal best time 18 minutes twenty seconds. Other strong performances came from Julie Ransom, Heather Carr, and Michelle Doan. Next up for the Barons is the Sunset League Preview meet on Wednesday at Central Park.

Students must sign up in the Career Center and pick up a pass. Teachers must sign the pass to release you from class and attend the presentations.

After a huge 49 to 17 win last night over Banning, our mighty Barons football team improve their record to 3 and 1.  The Barons travel to Westminster next Friday night to take on the Lions in their last pre-season game before starting Sunset League Play.  Go Barons!

Congratulations to all levels of Girls Tennis on another victory.  F.V beat Rosary, great job ladies!

Congratulations, yet again, to boys water polo. All three teams beat Irvine high school. Keep it up, Baron men!!

Congratulations to Varsity girls field hockey with their win yesterday defeating Chaminade 2-1. Goals were scored by Nikki Coronado and Alana Batta.  Good job girls, way to finish off the preseason!

Swim team event at Fountain Bowl this Saturday. All athletes interested in joining the swim team are invited to bowl Saturday at 4:30 p.m.  It is the first team event of the year and a great opportunity to meet your future teammates.  There will also be a Swim team meeting during lunch next Thursday September 26th.  All athletes interested in joining the swim team in the Spring should come by the pool deck at lunch and sign-in.

Advanced Drama will be have its first showcase of the year. See a variety of monologues, scenes, and songs performed by your fellow Barons today at 5:00 in Room 309. Tickets are $3 at the door.

Back to School Night is this Monday, September 23 at 6:00PM.  Make sure that your parents have a copy of your schedule so they know where to go.  You can download a blank schedule at fvhs.com and fill in your subject, teacher, and room number for each class.  Back to School Night is an opportunity for your parents to visit classrooms and for teachers to present a brief overview of class curriculum and expectations.

Here are your morning announcements for Wednesday, September 18th:      

Congratulations to the varsity girls golf team for the victory over Estancia. Kat Foster, Melissa Kittredge, Jeana Christianson, Mara James, and Vivienne Nguyen all contributed to the victory. Way to go Barons!

A BIG congratulations to Connor Reilly of the boys varsity water polo team,  for being featured in OC Varsity as a “SCHOLAR ATHLETE”.  While Connor puts points on the scoreboard, he also earns HUGE points toward his phenomenal 4.57 GPA. This year, he is balancing his arduous practice schedule with 5 AP classes. He is a 3 year varsity water polo starter and will be a 4 year varsity swimmer coming this spring. He is setting his sights on Princeton University where perhaps he can continue to dominate both in the pool and in the classroom. Way to represent your school, Connor… You are truly a BARON FOR LIFE!

Props to Boys Water Polo as they destroyed Notre Dame High School yesterday. JV won 8 to 2 and varsity dominated 15 to 4. YOLO, WATER POLO!

This weeks College Fun Fact focuses on Northern Arizona University. The 738 acre campus is located in Flagstaff Arizona. NAU was ranked 78th by Forbes Magazine for ‘America’s Best Public Colleges” Average class size is about 30 students and they are a Division 1 sport school. You need a 3.0 GPA to get admitted and the average SAT is 1500.

Here are your morning announcements for Friday, September 13th:      

Boys water polo is having a great season so far!! They are 8 and 1 and are setting their sights on CIF playoffs. Varsity had a crushing victory over El Dorado Wednesday with a final score of 18 to 4! Keep fighting Barons!!

On the Dave Fitzpatrick Freshman field the Frosh Football team lost a heart breaker against Trabuco Hill.   The “Pit” made up of, Cade Seigrist, Matt Powell, Scott Craig, Wyatt Vidal, Joey Foster, and Adam Torres controlled the line of scrimmage and allowed the Barons to run the ball at will.  The lead switched multiple times throughout the game and the Barons have shown tremendous growth through their hard work and dedication.   Frosh offensive lineman you are to report to Coach Gruca’s room for film today at lunch.

Hey Barons, come out to night and watch your mighty Barons football team take on Trabuco Hills at Huntington Beach High  School at 7:00pm.  This is a home game, so show your Super Baron or ASB card and get in free!  Go Barons! 

Congratulations Girls Tennis, Varsity beat Irvine High School 14 to 4.  Katie Ho won all of her matches. Demi Dang and Ruth Nguyen won 2 of their matches.  Clarissa Htay and Vivian Ly won all of their double matches, where Michelle Le/Vivian Bui and AiVy Nguyen/Jayne Yokomota won 2 of their matches.  The Barons are 3 and 1 on the season, great start Ladies!

 CONGRATULATIONS and a huge shout out to: Umbreen Ali, Jonathan Clements, Benjamin Din, and  Amanda Stark.  Our 2014 National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalists! Only the top 4% of students NATIONWIDE make it this far into the competition. Congratulations and continued good luck as the competition moves forward.

Congrats to the Boys Varsity football team for their exciting 49-28 win over Foothill High School last Friday night. Tied at the half, the Barons scored 21 unanswered points in the second half to seal the victory. JV Football fell in a close game 28-13 last Thursday to Foothill. Kent Swift led the offense to a strong second half effort. JVs play away this week @ Dana Hills on Thursday @ 3:15.

The Frosh Football team played their first football game yesterday against the Foothill Knights.  The Barons did not come out on top, however, the team never quit and is improving with every week.  The Barons were lead with great performances by Karson Ayres, Angel Hernandez, Matt Powell, Scott Craig, Gavin Carter, and Kallan Detloff.  Come out next week as the Frosh Barons face off against Dana Hills for our first home game of the year.

You have recieved your student schedule today.  Please follow this schedule.  Change request forms are located at the receptionists desk.  If the change can be made, you will receive a new updated schedule.  Guidance Specialists will be available to meet with students starting Tuesday, September 3rd, after their last class of the day.

If you do not have an ID card…. you can get one on Picture Make-Up day tomorrow, Thursday, August 29th, in the Media Center from 7:00am to 3:00pm.  This is the last chance you have to take your picture for the yearbook.  If you don’t have an ID to check out books this week you can use your schedule.

A huge congratulations to Brock Lundsquist and Daniel Patzlaff who were chosen as Collegiate Baseball All Americans. This is one of the most prestigious awards given to high school athletes because it recognizes baseball players from across the country. The baseball program was also given award by Collegiate Baseball for finishing in the top 25 in the country.  All baseball players need to meet today at 215 on the varsity baseball field.

Attention Boys’ Soccer there will be a meeting right after school today on the Varsity soccer field. Boys soccer will also be holding tryouts this Tuesday from 3:00-4:30 on the varsity field for all freshman and anyone that didn’t play last season.
