For Guidevisement in third period yesterday, students watched a video featuring Michael Gamerl from the Princeton Review.

In previous years, teachers discussed Guidevisement with their third period classes. Teachers talked about students’ futures after high school and the choices they could explore.

The video, produced by BBN, was broadcast to students so they could start thinking about their options.

“I thought we had this video because the school wanted us to have a taste of what college is like, and on how to prepare for it,” said Hakan Taban (’16). “The video to me was a great experience to the school.”

In the video, Gamerl speaks about a student’s major goals to accomplish before college. Good grades should be a student’s first priority. Then students will need strong test scores in the SAT, ACT, and PSATs.  Students could also take the practice tests such as the Explore and PLAN test.

“The video was to have students think about their future, and understand what choices are available to them,” said science teacher Deborah Brown. “Hopefully the students will take the opportunity to explore all the options available to them.”

Most students thought that the school should have shown the video in previous years. The video featured valuable information they believed they when they were younger.

” The guest speaker had a lot of great things to say and I liked how he kind of gave kids a different perspective on college,” said English teacher Patricia Munoz. “I thought that we should had seen him in person and that it was a great video that it will benefit many students.”
