Last Tuesday girls volleyball played hard at their second to last home game of the season, but all three teams lost to Newport as the night came to a close.

The frosh-soph and junior varsity teams both lost 1-2, while varsity lost 1-3, scoring 25-20, 23-25, 19-25, and 21-25 in each respective game.

The varsity team came in strong with a win during their first set and fought the Sailors point for point the whole game through.

Outside hitters Laney Ehlers (’14) and Samira Escobar (’14) consistently made clean kills, despite the fact that many balls were played out of system.

The front row’s blocking helped earn several points for the Lady Barons during the night, and Ari Jacobsen (’15) hustled to pass hard-driven balls high to the setter for easy assists.

The varsity girls worked hard to keep up the momentum during the fast-paced game, making for more errors to be made on the opponent’s side.

“It wasn’t the best we’ve played this season, but we are really going to push harder [for the rest of the season],” said varsity player Sutton Fryslie (’15).

The Lady Barons will be playing away at Marina on Thursday, Oct. 31.
