Three weeks ago, Bruce Estrada, a school custodian, found the wall between the boys’ and girls’ bathrooms nearby the bungalows damaged. There had been an attempt to break into the girls’s restroom that has left the bathrooms shut down for the time being with several dents and holes in the wall.

Once damage is found, head of maintenance Lloyd Chesmore documents it, reports it to supervision and cleans and repairs the bathroom.

Both of the bathrooms by the bungalows are often closed due to vandalism but maintenance usually reopens them soon after for track. However, the damage this time is more intense.

Principal Chris Herzfeld stated, “There’s been some discussion about building another bathroom out there for sports, but so far it’s just discussion.

“I do not know how to prevent [vandalism], other than posting a restroom attendant in each location, which is not economically feasible,” he said.

Since yesterday, the bathrooms have reopened.
