This Wednesday, boys soccer took on Edison in the Game of the Week. Although the Barons fought hard and had the support of the crowd, all levels fell to Edison’s soccer teams. Varsity lost with a crushing score of 0-3 and are currently ranked last for Sunset League.

The boys, led by co-captains Isaac Garcia (‘14) and Mathew Ellis (‘14), started off the first half of the game equally matching Edison’s team. The Barons passed well and controlled the midfield, however, offense could not find a way through Edison’s defenders. The first half ended with no goals.

Both team looked forward to better performances in the second half. However, in a moment of carelessness from the Barons, Chargers snatched the chance and took the lead. Barons pushed up hoping to equalize the score, but their negligence allowed Edison to counter attack and score another goal within five minutes.

Barons continued pressuring the Chargers’ half; however, their effort was not enough to make a turn back. At the end of the game, Edison received a free kick right outside of the box and they were able to turn it into a goal. The game ended with a score of 0-3 for the Chargers, pushing the Barons to the bottom of Sunset League.

Although the boys varsity soccer team has not won a game yet, Garcia remains proud.

“This year we had a tough outcome to the season with a lot of close games,” said Garcia. “I really am proud of the team and I was honored to play with them.”

The next boys soccer match will take place next Wednesday at 3 p.m.
