Here are your morning announcements for Friday, October 31st:

Happy Halloween Barons! Show your creepy and creative costumes in the bowl today at lunch for our annual costume contest! There will be a prize for the winner! See you there!

Congratulations to golfer Lilia Vu for advancing to the CIF individual finals which will be held next Thursday in Chino hills. Lilia shot a 73 and was the only girl from the Sunset League to advance. Way to go and good luck Lilia.

Congratulations to Girls Tennis Hanh Pham for winning Fountain Valley’s first Sunset League Single’s Title since 1994!!!  Carolyn Fararji took 3rd and for JV Girls’ Caroline Ta & Stephanie Hernandez won the JV doubles title and Giao Phan took 2nd place in singles.  Great job ladies!

FVHS surf team had its 2nd competition against Huntington at our home break Tues. in great    3 – 4ft. surf!  Taking over her heat in women’s longboard, Giovanna Scandone came out on top with a 1st pl. finish followed up by teammate Riley Anderson with a strong 3rd!  In men’s shortboard, Jonathan Holbrook, Dustin Santana, and Jjohn Hoyt ripped their way to 3rd pl. finishes in their heats.

To all juniors. your CAHSEE test results are available from your Guidance Specialists.  You can pick them up this week before school, during lunch and after school.

Do you like designing? Do you want thousands of people to see your work? Then the Pi Day T-shirt Design Competition is for you. Create a T-shirt design for the upcoming Pi Day event and your design could be showcased on the event flyers, programs, and T-shirts. Check the flyer in your math teacher’s class for what must be included in your design. All designs must be submitted electronically using the QR code on the flyers or by hand to your math teacher by November 14.

Attention Barons – If you ordered a Glow Show or Bell Game shirt you can pick it up in front of the Financial Office at lunch today. There will also be a few shirts for sale.

It was a HUUUUUGGEEEE day for Girls Tennis!  Our ladies beat Newport Harbor for the first time in 20 years!  Hanh Pham won her matches 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 and Katharine Nguyen won all of her matches 6-2, 4-6, 6-0.  Hanh Pham is an impressive 56 and 1 on the season!  Good Luck at Sunset League Finals!

FVHS Girls soccer tryouts will continue today and Thursday from 3-4:30 pm at The Stadium Soccer Field.  There will be an additional tryout FOR ALL FALL ATHLETES at the end of the fall sports season.  For more info please see Coach Goldman during 6th period at the stadium soccer field or go to fvhsgirlssoccer.com

Students Halloween is this Friday.  Please be aware of the costume rules and guidelines.  Keep dress code policies in mind as well as the following:

  • Costumes must be safe in every respect, therefore, students must be able to see and breathe clearly at all times. Masks are not allowed as part of a Halloween costume here at school or at any school activity. If you wear a mask, you will be asked to remove it and leave it with an administrator.
  • Student costumes must also be in good taste. Therefore, costumes that reveal midriffs are not allowed. Costumes that inappropriately depict a male as female or vice versa should not be worn. We need to be respectful of gender and do not want to promote dress that might offend any of our staff or students. Similarly, costumes must be respectful of ethnic and cultural diversity.

Bottom line: USE YOUR BEST JUDGMENT

Here are your morning announcements for Monday, October 27th:   

A big shout out to Boys Water Polo who went 4 and 1 at the Hank Vellekamp Tournament this weekend. Way to dominate, boys!  Come out this Wednesday night at 7pm at Newport Harbor High School to cheer on the Baron boys as they take on Edison!

The Boys Team competed at the Mt. Sac Invitational this past weekend. Gayln Nash led the team, running 15:47 over the hilly course and the Varsity boys placed 6th overall in their race.  The Sophomore Boys placed 6th in their race as well and the Freshman Boys were 5th.  This weekend, they will be competing in the Sunset League Finals at Central Park.  The Varsity Boys are looking to beat Huntington Beach and Edison for the league title and make CIF for the 4th year in a row.

Girls Soccer Tryouts start today through Thursday, Oct 30th from 3:00pm to 4:30pm @ the Stadium Soccer Field.  All 6th period soccer players and any fall athletes, freshman or new student athletes to Fountain Valley HS should attend.  Please wear cleats, shin guards and bring plenty of water.

The Mighty Royal Regiment took home another 1st Place trophy Saturday evening, continuing to be unbeaten in their division of 5A . They also took home the gold for  the Best Overall Visual, and Best Overall Color Guard. The Band will be performing IN COSTUMES at the Bell Game on Friday Night, and then have another competition this Saturday at Irvine High School.  Way to go band!

Attention Students, if you have an ASB or Super Baron Card, the free ticket for the Edison game is only good for you, you cannot give your Edison Game Ticket to a Friend.  You must show your Super Baron or ASB Card at the ticket gate along with your ticket for admission.

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Support Girls Field Hockey at their Dine Out at Applebee’s on Monday.

Field Hockey is holding their annual Pancakes at Applebee’s Breakfast Fundraiser this Saturday, October 25 from 8 am – 10 am.  All service is provided by Field Hockey players.  Ticket price: $10.  Tickets will be available at the Door for $10.

Congratulations to varsity field hockey on their tie against Marina and to JV on their win.

Congratulations to golfers Lilia Vu and Melissa Kittredge for qualifying for the CIF golf championships. Lilia won the Sunset League tournament shooting a 3 under par 67 and Melissa shot an 81 to take the final spot. Both will be competing in Anaheim on Monday. Good luck ladies!

Congratulations to the Frosh/Soph Gold team and their win over Marina! Through great play of Freshmen Diana Wise and Sophomore Preslee Richelieu they were able to sweep the Vikings in 2 straight games.  Congratulations also to the Varsity girls volleyball team in their 3-0 sweep of Marina!  They were led by seniors Liz Byrnes, Cherish McDonald, Ari Jacobsen, Lina Thatsanaphonh, Ashley Rogers, Sutton Fryslie, Zara Platt, Anessa Longoria, Kristy Lofstron, and Demetria Ma!  Next match is tomorrow @ Los Al!

The FVHS Surf team battled it out with Marina Tuesday morning in some especially brutal surf conditions.  The girls team shined with some stellar finishes including Giovanna Scandone winning 1st place in both her heats.  Delaney Millican and Julia Luna followed closely with strong 3rd place finishes.   In the men’s division, Nathan Davis finished 1st place in his heat with an impressive wave of the day.  Nick Calnon and Jonathan Holbrook surfed their way to impressive third place finishes, despite the unusually large surf and rough conditions of the day.  Nice job FVHS Surf Team.

The FVHS Surf Team surfed strongly against Edison, the top scoring team in the Sunset League, last Friday at their home break.  Eric Tello placed 1st in his men’s short board heat, followed closely by John Hoyt with 2 – third place finishes and Riley Donohoo also in third place.  Delaney Millican shredded her way to a strong finish in the women’s shortboard heat.

Your mighty Royal Regiment continues to dominate the south-land. The Regiment marched all over their competition and had an impressive victory over the weekend in Anaheim. They took home the gold for Best Music, Best Visual, Best Color Guard, Best General Effect, and had the highest overall score of the evening, beating 14 other bands. Way to go band! You can catch their award winning show, entitled “The 10 Mile Day” next Saturday night at Glover Stadium in Anaheim.

The UCI blood drive is this Wednesday, October 22nd and students that are 17 years of age or older who are interested in donating blood can sign up with Mrs. Chaicharee at her room in Room 405.

Calling all Freshmen! Are you interested in being part of a great club and raising money for your graduating class? The Freshman Commission will be holding a mandatory meeting today at lunch. Bring your lunches to room 100 and meet with Ms. Kuykendall to learn about this exciting opportunity.

Here are your morning announcements for Friday, October 17th:

Yesterday at Marina High School, the Freshman Football Team continued its quest for the Sunset League Championship with a 47-27 victory.  The Barons pillaged the Vikings in the fourth with the “pit” dominating the line of scrimmage with their bread and butter play, Trey Texan left.  Josh Tellez lead all scores with five touchdowns but also accompanied by hard nose running by Steven Amezcua and Jevon Hill.  Next week the Barons play Huntington Beach in the highly anticipated “hair bowl.”  Go Barons!!

Congratulations to Varsity Girls Tennis, on beating Edison 14 to 4.  Great job ladies!!

Barons come out and support our 12 senior volleyball girls next Tuesday Oct. 21st at 5:30 pm. in the gym. They will be taking on the Marina Vikings in one of their last home games. It will be a great and close match! Please come out and support our lady barons!

The first B4L drawing is today in the bowl at lunch!  Were you nominated?  Stop by the Supervision office window and check the list of nominees.  Ten winners will be chosen at the lunchtime raffle.  Winners MUST be present to win.  Winners get their choice of a $25 gift card.  Check the Supervision window to see what gift cards are available.

Saturday School is this weekend!  Come to the cafeteria with homework and books to read.  Saturday School starts at 7:30 and ends at 11:45.  Late birds not admitted.

Congratulations to the girls Varsity Volleyball team in their tournament over the weekend in which they made the semi finals.   Led by great play of senior libero, Ari Jacobsen and sophmore Opposite, Amy Hinnant.  Today the barons travel to play Huntington.   Good luck Ladies!

Ready-Set-Go!  This Wednesday, October 15th is the big day – Fountain Valley High School’s College & Career Day!  All Students, all grade levels will be testing.  There will be a Career Fair in the gym, we will have over 40 colleges, UC’s, CSU’s and various private and out of state Universities.  Also, on that day we will be hosting a Career Fair with Numerous vendors on campus, Police, Fire, Life Guards, Knott’s Berry Farm and Starbucks, just to name a few. So as our slogan says… Ready-Set-Go!

Did you leave your bike unlocked in the back racks last week?  Stop by the Supervision office window.  We may have it.  Please remember to lock your bike in the racks daily.  We don’t want it to be stolen.

Here are your morning announcements for Friday, October 10th:

Yesterday at the Chris Herzfeld Coliseum, the Freshman Football team beat the Griffins 18-7.  From the start of the game the young Barons played great defense and pounded the ball on offense.  It was a great team effort by all 50 boys.  Thank you for all that attended.  Go Barons!

Congratulations to the Freshmen girls volleyball team in their win last night against Los Al.  Freshmen Mia Lara provided some solid passing, Jenna Everson led the team in blocking, and Alex Brooks was the MVP of the match leading the team in kills.

Congratulations to the girls golf team with their victory over Marina. The girls were led by captain Lilia Vo who shot a 32. Emily Bui, Breanna Bui, Melissa Kittredge, Kat Foster and Vivienne Nguyen also contributed to the win. Way to go Barons!

G – Mal, your Guidance Specialist is Mrs. Whitman

Here are your morning announcements for Monday, October 6th:

Last Chance for Yearbook pictures… Tomorrow is Picture Make Up Day, this is your last chance to have your yearbook picture taken.  If you did not have your picture taken last spring or at Registration, you need to go to the Media Center tomorrow from 7:30 – 3:00pm and have your picture taken.  There will not be another Make Up day.

Congratulations to our mighty Royal Regiment who started their competitive season with a victory at Warren High School last Saturday. The band won 1st place in the 5A Division.  1st in Percussion Overall, Sweepstakes in Color Guard. And Sweepstakes in Visual Performance!  Great job Barons!  The Regiment’s next competition is Saturday Oct. 18th at Glover Stadium in Anaheim. Come out and support our award winning Marching Band!

This weeks’ College Reps on campus include;  Mills College and Linfield College on Monday, Colorado State, Fort Collins and Binghamton University on Tuesday, University of Kansas, High Point University, University of New England on Wednesday and Williams college on Thursday.  If you signed up for any of these Colleges visits, please come to the Career Center at their scheduled time.

Are you a journalist or artist looking for a competition? The Constitutional Rights Foundation sponsors a courtroom journalist and courtroom artist competition through Mock Trial and we’re looking for artists and journalists to join our team. For the last three years, FVHS has had the winning artists and/ or journalists in the county and have gone to the state championships to compete. If you’re interested in the mock trial court journalism or court artist competition, see Ms. LaFramboise in room 131 for more information. (10/6)

Congrats to Baron Baseball and all Barons, FVHS is the only high school in the country to have two pitchers currently starting in the upcoming Major League playoffs: Chris Tillman opened for the Baltimore Orioles last night and CJ Wilson will be the starting pitcher for the Angels in game 3 of the American League divisional playoffs. Go Barons !!!

If you were to lock three monkeys in a room with nothing but cigarettes, typewriters, and a few bananas, what are the chances that they would eventually produce Shakespeare? What happens when a nervous average joe is given the power to reverse time in order to woo that cute girl at the coffee shop until he gets it right? Are you a journalist or artist looking for a competition? The Constitutional Rights Foundation sponsors a courtroom journalist and courtroom artist competition through Mock Trial and we’re looking for artists and journalists to join our team. For the last three years, FVHS has had the winning artists and/ or journalists in the county and have gone to the state championships to compete. If you’re interested in the mock trial court journalism or court artist competition, see Ms. LaFramboise in room 131 for more information. (10/6)

The District Wide College Fair will be at Marina High School on Monday, Oct. 6th from 7:00 -9:00pm. Over 100 colleges will be attending along with break out sessions on Financial Aid and NCAA. Plus FOOD TRUCKS! Head to Marina on Monday at 7pm!

September has been a busy month with students showing their Baron pride.  Here are some of the students who have done good deeds for their fellow Barons….Alice Nguyen, Giselle Pelayo, Christian Hernandez, Korbin Diep, Matsu Louer, Koby Dykman, Delilah Medina, Marlene Perez, Briana Martin, Brittany Bancroft, Minh Tran, Kevin Ingram, Maggie Bui, Michael Koger, Catherine Vu, Josef Momen, Faye Rodriguez and Skyler Scholten. Next time you see any of these students, stop and thank them because they were CAUGHT…Being Good!

ALL students who leave campus at lunch MUST have their ID with them.  If your last academic class ends before lunch, you must have a sticker on your ID.  Come to the Supervision window if you need one.  Any student without valid school ID will not be permitted to leave.

Here are your morning announcements for Wednesday, October 1st:

Congratulations to Girls Tennis, Varsity beat Edison 16 to 2 and JV’s won 11 to 7.  Hanh Pham and Katharine Nguyen beat the Chargers #1 and #2 players.  Hanh continues her undefeated streak with 33 wins!  The Lady Barons are coming on very strong this season!  Go Barons!

Baseball tryouts will be this week, October 1st, 2nd and 3rd at 3:15PM on the Freshman baseball field. Please dress in proper baseball attire. Bring your cleats, glove and bat. Tryouts will last until 500pm. For those athletes that are playing a fall sport, please see Coach Y in room 114 at lunch this week. Any Freshman who want to try out please see Coach Birinyi in room 215 today for some important information.  If you have already checked in with Mr. Birinyi, there is no need to come again.
