Girls Volleyball fought hard in their second-to-last League game of the season, but suffered a close loss to the Huntington Beach Oilers by the end of the night.

Varsity lost 0-3, with scores 15-25, 20-25, and 22-25. Although they did not win, the team had greatly improved since the start of their season.

Outside hitter Valerie Holler (’15) and opposite hitter Ashley Rogers (’15) earned several kills for the Lady Barons. They were assisted by Liz Byrnes (’15), who hustled to set every ball consistently.

The girls played strong defense in all three sets but made errors that gave the opposing team free points.

“We totally had a chance to beat them but after we lost the first game of our match, our attitude towards the game kinda changed and some players would single themselves out during some plays,” Lina Thatsanaphonh (’15). “Although it wasn’t a bad game; it was a close game.”

The girls will by playing their last league game of the season at Newport Harbor next Tuesday.
