Here are your morning announcements for Wednesday, December 17th:      

Congratulations to the Varsity Boys’ Soccer team for being ranked #8 in Orange County and #8 in CIF. The Barons take their 5-1-1 record into today’s game against Segerstrom. Good luck!

Congratulations to both the Junior Varsity and Varsity girls soccer teams. They travelled to Godinez High School yesterday for away matches and both teams came away victorious. The JV team won with a 2-0 shutout led by freshman goalkeeper, Kiana Flores.  The varsity squad won 2-1 with both goals scored by junior midfielder, Leigha Williams.  Great job girls!

Congratulations to the Varsity Wrestling team for placing top 10 in the very tough Clovis West Shootout last weekend. Many top ranked wrestlers including top teams in the state were present. Congrats to the following individual placers: Ben Madrid placed 4th – Blake Vasquez placed 3rd – and Andrew Morgan placed 2nd to a top ranked kid in state. Wish them luck as they travel back to Clovis area at Buchanan high School. Varsity is currently ranked 5th in Orange County, 5th in the Southern Section and top 12 in State. Go Barons!

Attention Athletes, Track try outs will be tomorrow and Friday at 3:30 on the track facility. Athletes in winter sports will have a separate try out after their season is over.

The swim team roster will be posted Thursday December 18th (tomorrow).  Everyone joining should meet on deck during lunch.

Attention all Seniors–Are you ready to Light Up the Knight? That’s the theme for Grad Night 2015, and this year’s Contest for Best Art Design has begun!  We need a drawing depicting our theme and as usual, we’ll be giving the student with the winning design a free ticket to the 2015 Grad night Party!  Fliers outlining this contest are available at theActivities office or on our website at www.fvhsgradnight.com.  Good luck, Senior Barons!!

Seniors, most of your college applications are done congratulations! Make sure you have sent your SAT/ACT scores to the colleges you applied to. If you are interested in Mt. Holyoke College come to the Career Center on Thursday, Dec. 18th at 10:15am. FVHS Alum Millie Koong will be here to tell you all about living on the east coast, leaving California and the opportunities at Mt. Holyoke. Congratulations to Rotary Most Improved Student for December, Jacob Runfola.

And the B4L Winners are…Ruby Tuesday Rivera, Ryan Husted, Riley Tovar, Kristie Hoang, TJ Nguyen, Isaiah Camarena, Jack Nguyen, Sam Beidokhti, Giovanna Saporita and Aileen Nguyen.  Congratulations, you have each won a $25 gift card of your choice!

Girls Varsity Basketball finished 3rd in the first annual Bill Kristinat Classic tournament at Fountain Valley with an overall record of 7-2 on the season.  The JV team went 2-2 in the Costa Mesa tourney and the Frosh team finished 2nd in the Westminster Tournament. All levels play at Aliso Niguel on Thursday this week.

Congratulations to the Boys Freshman Blue Basketball team as they defeated University HS, 60-58, in the Championship game of the Segerstrom tournament. Jake Bitzer had 15 points, including the game winning shot with 1 second to play. Tourney MVP, Josh Gray had 24 points and 10 rebounds. Vinh Ngo added 10 points and 12 rebounds. Playing big at the defensive end of the court were Nathan Do, Paul Vu and Ken Sakata. The Barons have won back to back tournaments, and improved their record to 9-0 on the season. Great job Frosh Boys Basketball.

Congratulations to our Freshman Gold Boys Basketball Team for their convincing victory over Tesoro High-school last week. Captain Calvin Huynh was the leading scorer and the player of the game. We wish our Gold team continued success throughout the season.

Congratulations to the Varsity Cheer Competition Team. They came in first place at their competition this weekend at Sierra High School!! Way to go girls!  Keep it up!

The Vocal Music Holiday concert “Sounds of the Season: Past & Present” is taking place at Segerstrom Concert Hall tonight at 6:45pm.  The concert will feature all of our high school choirs, accompanied by a full, professional orchestra.   It’s gonna be a beautiful and festive night of music.  Ticket prices range from $12 to $52 and are on sale at www.scfta.org/fvhs.

Here are your morning announcements for Friday, December 12th:      

The Freshman Boys Basketball improved to 8-0 on the season with wins over Segerstrom HS, and Mater Dei HS, the last two days. The offense was sparked by center Josh Gray who had 30 points and 15 rebounds in the two games, while point guard Nathan Do dished out 10 assists. At the defensive end, forward Jake Bitzer had 7 steals to go along with 2 charges, while guard Ken Sakata had 6 steals to add to the Barons cause. Off the bench making strong contributions were Cameron Mansouri with 14 points, and Kevin Nguyen with 7 rebounds. The Barons advance to the championship game of the Segerstrom tournament on Saturday afternoon. Way to go Frosh Boys Basketball.

Congratulations to the JV Pep Squad on their 1st place win at this weekend’s USA Regional Cheer Competition. They are now 2-0.  Great job Barons keep it up.  Also, good luck to our Varsity Cheer Competition team as they compete this weekend!

The FVHS surf team had their final regular contest against Marina at the south side of the pier on Monday.  John Hoyt and Lance Smith continued their winning streaks both with first place in men’s shortboard.  Other standout short board placings were Giovanna Scandone, Eric Tello, Andrew Bowen, Noah Hafen, and Riley Donohoo all in second place, followed closely by Delaney Millican in 3rd.  Longboarding highlights included John Hoyt with a strong second place, and Giovanna Scandone in 3rd.  Great job team!

Tuesday in the opening round of the Segerstrom Freshman Boys Basketball tournament, our young Barons defeated Orange Lutheran HS by a score of 57-38. Josh Gray led the scoring with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Paul Vu cleaned up the glass with an additional 10 rebounds. Nima Kalhor, Steven Amezcua, Dylan Sorce, and Bryant Ly led the way at the defensive end to help stymie the Lancers. The Barons improved to 6-0 on the season, and play Segerstrom HS at 3:15pm today. Good Luck Boys Frosh Basketball!!

Congratulations to our Lady Barons Basketball Teams, Varsity won its tournament opener 58 to 27 over Cabrillo.  JV and Frosh/Soph also won opening round games in their tournaments.  Great job ladies!

Teachers and staff have submitted their nominations for B4L for this month.  Were you nominated?  Check the Supervision window Tuesday morning to see.  Nominees have a chance to win a $25 gift card of their choice if their name in drawn in the raffle.  The B4L Raffle is THIS FRIDAY during lunch in the bowl.  Winners MUST be present to win.

Fountain Valley Theatre invites you to Julius Caesar High School.  Tickets are free for Fountain Valley High School students and staff.  The show runsDecember 11th at 7:00, December 12th at 4 and 7:00, and December 13th at 7:00.  Tickets can be reserved by seeing Mr. Zick in room 309 at lunch or visiting the fvhstheatre website.

Seniors who are applying to any Common App school with a due date of Jan. 1, 2015 need to order their transcripts now through Parchment.com.  Make sure you utilize your Common App ID# when ordering. Here are your morning announcements for Monday, December 8th:      

Congratulations to the Mock Trial team on an amazing season!  In rounds 1 and 3, the Baron Defense team was stellar, garnering recognition for outstanding performances by pretrial attorney Leah Phillips, trial attorneys Gina Le, Anthony James Nguyen, and Vi Pham. Witnesses Michelle Dong, Kaitlyn Truong, Hannah Brine, Anthony Cort also were honored for their performances and Mihran Markarian was commanding as Bailiff. In rounds 2 and 4, the Prosecution team rocked. Trial attorneys Jar-Yee Liu, Thomas Mundi, and Claire Pritchard and witnesses Vi Dang and Ally Lenguyen received mention for their awesome performances. Last night, the Baron Defense team performed against the ranking champion for the last two years. Despite a hard-fought battle, the team was not victorious. Ms. LaFramboise would like to commend the entire team this year for their talent, camaraderie, and unfailing dedication to the team. Go Big Red!

The Freshman Boys Basketball team won the Bolsa Grande Tournament by defeating Villa Park in the championship game by a score of 52-45. Offensively the Barons were led by Josh Gray with 16 points, and tourney MVP Jake Bitzer who chipped in with 12 points and 6 steals. The Defense was anchored by Paul Vu, Ken Sakata, and Kevin Nguyen throughout the tournament. The freshman team improved their record to 5-0 on the season. Way to go Barons!!

Congratulations to the Boys Soccer program. All three levels are still undefeated! JV and Frosh/Soph advanced tothis Saturday’s semi finals of the Marina tournament. While Varsity is 5-0 and play tonight in the championship game of the Irvine tournament against Long Beach Cabrillo. The Barons are lead by senior captain Larry turner who leads the county with 8 goals and senior captain Jacob Shubin who leads the county with 6 assists. New comer Chico Contreras is second in the county with 5 goals. Good luck tonight in the finals!!!

Our wrestlers began their season over the weekend at The Westminster Classic where they competed with 42 other teams. We took 4th and had 8 individual placers… Tin Nguyen and Amador Rodriguez took 7th place, Loki Lawles and Gunner Brisbine took 6th, Ben Madrid 5th place, Karson Ayres 3rd place, Andrew Morgan took 2nd place and Junior Blake Vasquez  was the champion of his division taking 1st place.

Congratulations to Virtual Enterprise’s McFly Company for winning 2nd place in Booth Design, and honorable mention in Advanced Web Design and Video Commercial.  Looking forward to a year of much success!

Congratulations to the boys varsity soccer team for beating Trabuco Hills 3-1. Goals were scored by Larry Turner, Jake Shubin and Ryan Erickson.  The Barons are 2-0 and look to continue their winning ways against Norco tonight at Sage Hill High School. Good luck Barons!

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity & JV soccer teams for opening the season with 2 convincing victories over Savanna High School of Anaheim. Both teams dominated their matches while not giving up a single goal. Leigha Williams led the varsity team with 4 goals while Kasey Reeve, Jackie Garrett & Rachel Shubin contributed one each.  For our Junior Varsity soccer team, Ally Bebout and Clarissa Orna both had a hat trick and Sam Stevens, Sam Ogawa and Sam Andrade each scored a goal.  Great Job Ladies! Keep up the good work!

The Freshman Boys Blue basketball team improved their record to 3-0 on the season, with a 44 – 43 win over Foothill HS, in the quarterfinals of the Bolsa Grande tournament. Leading the Barons was Jake Bitzer with 13 points, and Spencer Serven with 12 rebounds. Nathan Do and Vinh Ngo led the way at the defensive end of the court. The Barons are in the semi-finals and play Pacifica HS tonight at 7pm at Bolsa Grande. Great Job Frosh Barons!!

Congratulations to Grace Park! Grace is one of 500 students nationwide to earn the distinction of becoming a QuestBridge Scholar. Grace will be attending Northwestern University on a four year scholarship. Congratulations Grace!

Hey Seniors!  Today is the deadline to order your Class of 2015 Baseball T-Shirts for only $15.  The order forms are in Senior English classes. Please return your order form to room 100 with the money attached. Let’s support the Senior Class and remember what it is to be a Baron For Life!!

Grad Night Meeting: Wednesday, Dec. 3rd at 7 pm in the Faculty Dining Room.

 

Here are your morning announcements for Wednesday, December 3rd:      

Great job Boys Basketball, clean sweep on Monday night for Barons with Freshmen, JV, and Varsity all winning by 20 points each.  Redemption last night for the Varsity Boys team, after losing last year to Yorba Linda by 17 points and with both their star players returning and FV missing three starters, your Barons still pulled off the upset beating them by 6 points.  Baron Basketball demonstrating a lot of grit and growth.

The Girls JV Basketball team, is 2 and 1 in the Westminster tournament and Varsity is 2 and 0 on the season.  Great start Ladies!

Congrats to the JV Girls Water Polo team for winning their opening game of the season. They shut out Los Amigos, and won 6-0.  Shoutout to Amanda Blake and Captain Kylie Boland for having an awesome game!

The Vocal Music Holiday concert is taking place at Segerstrom Concert Hall on Monday, December 15th at 6:45pm.  The concert will feature all of our high school choirs, accompanied by a full, professional orchestra.  It’s gonna be a beautiful and festive night of music.  Ticket prices range from $12 to $52 and are on sale this Tuesday and Friday by room 307 from 12-1pm.

This Sunday is the Dance Team’s Annual Winter show!!  The dance team is preparing to begin it’s competition season in January and will be performing each of the competition routines for the first time at the Winter Show.  Come see the beginning of what is to be an amazing competition year!!  The show is here at FVHS in the gym at 6pm this Sunday Dec 7th.  Presale tickets can be purchased from dancers or Mrs. Allen in room 210 for $5.00 or buy your ticket at the door for $7.00.  The show will end with a cheerful holiday medley choreographed by the dancers themselves.  Hope to see you all there!!!

Seniors plan to order your Cap, Gown, Tassel, Graduation Announcements and Senior Remembrance items next Tuesday, December 9th by the Cafeteria from 7:00 to 1:00.  Ordering packets were mailed to the homes of all Seniors.  A sample of your schools Custom Graduation Announcement is on display now in the Activities Office.  Senior Ring orders will also be taken and delivered in 6 weeks.  Extra ordering packets for Caps, Gowns, Grad Announcements and Senior Rings are available in the Activities Office.

There is ONE Saturday School in December.  It is on December 13th in the cafeteria.  Saturday School starts promptly at 7:30am and ends at 11:45am.  Late arrivals will not be admitted.

 CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS:

The Virtual Enterprise class is hosting a “Mario Kart” competition.  Signups are this Thursday and Friday at lunch in room 230.  The cost is $5.00, sign up today!

Attention all video/computer game players. “Gaming Club” meets in room 213 every Friday after school. Please bring your laptop and/or video games to play with others, there will be free food this week. Contact Carolyn Tran or Mr. Lee in room 213 if you have any questions. See you there!

The FVHS Ronald McDonald House Club is continuing their Pop Tab drive through December 5th.

Congratulations to Aria Hossein, Dominic Dang, Shea Sueda, Duy Nguyen, Andrew Dinh, and Erik Mai for taking first place in the Annual Hoops for Hearts basketball tournament on Saturday, November 22nd. Their effort, as well as all of the other participants, helped raise almost $300 for American Heart Association to prevent and treat cardiovascular diseases in the United States.

Here are your morning announcements for Monday, December 1st:     

The FVHS Surf Team won their final competition against Marina.  John Hoyt and Lance Smith had heat dominating 1st place finishes in men’s short board, followed by Riley Donohoo, Dustin Santana, Eric Tello,and Andrew Bowen with fantastic 2nd place finishes.  Kekoa Jensen and Luke wells rode their way into 3rd.  In men’s long board, John Hoyt nose rode his way to a smooth 2nd place with Dustin Santana in 3rd!  Girls division top placers Giovanna Scandone had a great finish with a 2nd in long board, followed by Delaney Millican shredding her way to 3rd in women’s shortboard.

The Mighty Marching Band won the Gold Medal at their last competition of the season. They took home High Color Guard and High Percussion honors as well. That means that the FVRR has gone undefeated in their division for TWO YEARS IN A ROW! What an amazing accomplishment! Congratulations to all the Band Students, Parents, and Staff for another great and memorable year! Way to Go Band!

Your Fountain Valley Wrestling Team is ready to start their season in just a couple weeks!  New preseason rankings came out this week and your Barons are ranked 2nd in Orange County and 12th in State.   Of special note are the following wrestlers, all highly ranked in CIF, Orange County, and State…Lolo Gomez, Karson Ayres, Blake Vasquez, Andrew Morgan, Stone Escobedo, and Ben Madrid.  Go Barons!

Today is the last day to submit your Class of 2018 Hoodie order for the reduced price of $25.00.  Starting tomorrowthe cost will be $30.  Return your order form and payment to the Financial Office as soon as possible.

Attention All Freshman Football Players we are having a quick mandatory meeting in Coach Gruca’s room today at lunch, room 127.

For those of you that signed up for the UCI Field Trip on Wednesday, December 3rd, We must have a signed permission slip on file for you to attend.  If you have not returned your permission slip you will not be allowed to board the bus.  Please get it turned into the Career Center today.
