Morning announcements for Wednesday, April 29th, 2015:   

Congratulations to the Athletes of the Month for April, Senior JT Navarro for Baseball and Junior, Audrey Beck for Softball.

Boys varsity upset 10th ranked Newport Harbor and finish the dual meet season tied for 2nd, while the Varsity girls improved their record to secure a 3rd place finish in dual meets. Our Open boys finished the season undefeated in League dual meets, which has not happened in this millennia. The Open girls are pushing hard for an upset to take the title away from the Chargers and our JV squad will go into League with a full roster ready disrupt the JV title chase.

Barons Softball beats Newport Harbor 17 – 1 on Tuesday. Great team hitting was the key to the win.  Madeline Domingo hit a 3 run homer and Liana Castro threw a 1 hitter for the win.  It was a great team effort both defensively as well as at the plate.  Barons Softballs next game is Thursday at Marina.  Go Barons!

The Freshman Baseball team defeated Gahr High School on Saturday 10 to 5. J D Norris had a memorable day at the plate, collecting three hits including an Inside the Park Grand Slam Home Run.  Conrad Villafuerte had two hits and three runs batted in.

Barons – come watch as Baseball plays Los Al on Friday at 3:15pm and clear up to 4 detentions.  Check in and out with Mr. Lamar.  Please bring your ID!

This afternoon is your last chance to serve a Saturday School.  Come to the cafeteria today at 3:30pm. Bring a snack to eat at break.  It ends at 7:45pm.  Don’t be late!!

Guest contracts are available in the rack near the Supervision office.  You need one if you are bringing a guest who does not attend FVHS.  All contracts must be completed and turned into the Supervision office by 3pm Friday, May 1st.  This is your clearance slip.

The Supervision office will start issuing dance clearances for all students this Friday, May 1st. Bring your ID card to the Supervision window.

Congratulations Class of 2015!  You are almost there, your last year of high school is almost complete and the Career Center wants to make sure you are on track with any last minute paperwork or questions. Are you attending a 4yr college in the fall? Have you submitted your SIR, the Student Intent to Register? May 1st is the last day to submit and commit to the 4yr college you want to attend. Do not miss this deadline! Remember, this Friday May 1st send in your SIR and if you have any questions come by the Career Center.

ASB administrative interviews will be posted today, April 29, at the Activities office after school. Good luck!

Now’s your opportunity to take your voice from the shower and let the world hear you sing!   Our Vocal Music Program is gearing up for auditions for next’s years CONCERT CHOIR and TROUBADOURS!    Auditions begin May 4 and run for 2 weeks.   Stop by Room 307 and see Mr. Tison to pick up more information on getting into one of our advanced vocal music ensembles for next school year. Prom Tickets will be on Sale next Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday only.  The “ONE DAY ONLY” best price sale is Tuesday, May 5th.  Tickets will be $70.00 with ASB or Super Baron and $75 without per person.  The Financial Office will be open from 7:30am to 5:00pm on this day only.  Wednesday ticket prices are $80.00 with ASB or Super Baron and $85 without and Thursday ticket prices are $90.00 with ASB or Super Baron and $95.00 without.  You must bring your ID and Clearance slip from Supervision to buy tickets.  Buy Early and save!!

The Barber City Women’s Club of Westminster is awarding three $1,000 scholarships for the 2015/2016 school year. To qualify, you must be a woman who lives in Westminster or Midway City and have applied as a full time student at a vocational school, community college, or 4 year university. The deadline istomorrow. You can pick up your application at the career center.

Seniors — Baron Academic Foundation is looking for two FVHS seniors to award $500 scholarships. If your GPA is pretty good AND you can show a commitment to helping your community at school or outside, pick up an application for the “Meg Kelly Scholarship” at the front desk or at the College and Career Center, or look at the FVHS.com web site for “Foundation”.  Applications are due by Friday May 15th.

 

Morning announcements for Monday, April 27th, 2015:   

Congratulations to the Varsity Baseball team for their sweep of the Edison Chargers last week. The wins put the Barons into sole possession of second place. The offense was led by Pierson Loska who blasted his 3rd homerun of the year. Michael Murphy added a clutch two out double. Tripp Aversa and JT Navarro added clutch hits in the bottom of the seventh and with two outs, the Barons scored the winning run on an error to win 4-3. Thank you to all of the students and faculty that came out to support the team. The Barons will play Los Al this week.

Congratulations Gold Team on winning the Baron Games!  Sophomores and Juniors, stop by the Supervision window and pick up your winner’s clearance slip.  It’s good for TWO detentions.  You must turn it in by 3pm Tuesday, April 28th or it will not be accepted.  Don’t miss the deadline!

Morning announcements for Baron Games Friday, April 24th, 2015:       

The track teams competed at Los Al yesterday going after two league championships. The Boys team, competing out of their minds, beat Los Al 79 to 57, winning their 5th league title in a row.  The boys are 25-0 in the last five years.  Dakarai Barnett, Ibby Nyear, Elias Ghazlani, Nathan Willouby, Nick Malone, Jake May, and William Hua were huge contributors to the win.  The Girls team lost to Los Al but finish the season 4-1. They can tie Los Al for the league championship with a win in the next 2 weeks at Sunset League Finals.  Natalie Grohmann continued her strong season running 2:12 in the 800.  Davina Pham won both hurdle races, Amanda Torchia contributed in the jumps and hurdles, and Megan Pollock and Langa Tran finished first and second in the pole vault.

Congratulations to the Varsity Baseball team for their 6-1 win over the Edison Chargers. Willie Aguilar won his third game of the year. JT Navarro came in to pitch the final 3 innings in relief. The offense was led by Stephen Fedele. With the bases loaded and 1 out, Fedele hit a triple off the center field wall to score three runs. Pierson Loska added an RBI and Michael Murphy contributed with two hits. The Barons will host Edison today at 315. We hope to see all of you there!

As they continue to battle for a Sunset League Championship, the Freshman Baseball team defeated Edison on Wednesday 13 to 3.  J.D. Norris came into the game and pitched three scoreless innings to back a strong pitching performance by Alex Rostomian.  The offense was led by Evan Mak, Shea Adame, Jacob Taub and Conrad Villafuerte who all had two hits and drove in two runs each.

Congratulations to Boys Tennis on their victory over Edison 12 to 6! Good Luck at Ojai this weekend!

The Baron Swim Team does it again!  All levels handedly beat HB yesterday at Huntington in their 4th League Meet of the season. Many great swims were achieved and relays were won! The next meet is against Newport Harbor on Tuesday at Newport Harbor. Come cheer them on as they compete in their last dual meet before League Finals!  Go Barons!

Congratulations to the Boys Volleyball teams as they swept Marina yesterday! Thank you to all who came out and supported!

Morning announcements for Monday, April 20th, 2015:       

Congratulations to all the Frosh/Soph Baron Swimmers that competed in Saturday’s Estancia Frosh/Soph Invitational meet.  There were ten schools that competed and FVHS dominated overall.   Our girls and boys each scored over 100 points better than second place Huntington Beach HS earning 400 and 366 points respectively.  Way to go Baron Swimmers!

Congratulations to the Varsity Baseball team for their sweep of Marina last week. Both wins put the Barons in a three way tie for 2nd place in the Sunset League. On Wednesday, Willie Aguilar threw 5 plus innings and registered 7 strikeouts. Michael Murphy drove home the go ahead run with two outs in the 5th inning. On Friday, the Barons held off Marina for a score of 4 to 3. With the score tied at 3, Pierson Loska delivered a two out double in the top of the 7th inning to drive home JT Navarro. Travis Burleson earned a save on Wednesday and the win on Friday.  The Barons play Edison this week.

After suffering a tough loss to Marina on Friday, the Freshman Baseball Team bounced back with a 3 to 2 win over Long Beach Wilson. Great pitching performances by Spencer Serven and Michael Klug helped to keep the Freshman Team undefeated in non-league games.  The Freshman are now 17 and 3 on the season.

Seniors!!  Graduation Products are here!!  Pick up your Graduation products, Graduation Announcements, Name Cards, Thank You notes and ALL other Senior remembrance items that you ordered back in December.  Tables will be set up by the Cafeteria at Lunch.

Hey seniors, just another reminder from the Career Center to turn in your college acceptance letters. We really want to showcase all the different colleges our bright students here at Fountain Valley have gotten accepted to. Remember to turn in your acceptance letters at the career center to Ms. Le so they can be posted to the College Wall in the Guidance Center.

Congratulations to our Seniors of the Month for April, Monica Law and Melissa Valle!

The track teams traveled to Edison High School yesterday and both boys and girls defeated Edison on all levels. The Lady Barons were led by Natalie Grohmann who ran 5:07 in the mile, Davina Pham who won the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, long jump, and triple jump. Varsity won 94 to 41, JV 91 to 45 and Frosh/Soph 89 to 47.  The Boys team also dominated Edison with Dakarai Barnett winning the 100, long jump, and triple jump. Elias Ghazlani won the 110 & 300 hurdles.  The Boys scores were Varsity 84 to 52, JV 83 to 49 and the Frosh/Soph 93 to 44.  Great job Barons!

Congratulations to the Freshman Baseball team for their 5 to 2 victory yesterday over Marina.  Conrad Villafuerte and Evan Mak drove in the first two runs for the Baron’s to give them an early lead.  Shea Adame’s pinch hit RBI double sealed the victory.  Alex Rostomian pitched an outstanding game andNathan Wilson picked up the save by striking out 3 of the 7 batters he faced.

Barons, come out today to watch the exciting Freshman Baseball Team as two of the best Freshman pitchers in the Sunset League battle it out today at 3:15on the Freshman Field.

The FVHS Surf Team had their final CCSA competition last weekend.  Top place was Delaney Millican with 1st place finishes in all her heats, followed closely by Nate Davis, Kekoa Jensen and Lance Smith all with strong 2nd place finishes.  Great job FVHS Surf Team.

Congrats to our PTSA Teachers of the Year!  Mrs. Orr, our Veteran teacher winner, and Ms. Eaton, our New teacher winner.  Congratulations on behalf of PTSA and the entire student body.

Fashion Club will be selling tickets for their upcoming fashion show at lunch in front of the cafeteria. Tickets will be $5 presale and $7 at door. The show will be tomorrow, April 18th at 6pm.

Come to the Spanish Salsa Concert this Monday, April 20th. The concert will be from 5:30pm-7:30pm and the cost is $5 to attend. You can also get 4 tacos and a water bottle for an additional $5. Students can earn cultural points for their Spanish Classes.

Don’t forget to sign up for the video game tournaments held by virtual enterprise in room 230 during lunch. They are going to have Super Smash Brothers Brawl and League of Legends. Its $5 for Super Smash and $20 for League of legends for a team of 5. Go to room 230 today!

The Barber City Women’s Club of Westminster is awarding three $1,000 scholarships for the 2015/2016 school year. To qualify, you must be a woman who lives in Westminster or Midway City and have applied as a full time student at a vocational school, community college, or 4 year university. Morning announcements for Friday, April 3rd, 2015:       

Baron Softball had a tough loss to Yorba Linda 5-1, Liana Castro pitched a great game with Audrey Lansdown getting the RB I.  Barons played a great game but were out hit. Next games are Saturday in the Woodbridge Tournament.  Good luck ladies we believe!

The track teams competed at Huntington Beach HS on Thursday against Newport Harbor and Huntington Beach.  The FV Girls dominated both teams from the start, led by Natalie Grohman winning the 1600 and 800 races. The sprinters had an epic day with Crystal Eckman, Lisa Rastogi, and Cora Davis running times that put them top ten in school history.  Davina Pham won both hurdle races, and Annelise Doerr won the 200 meters. The girls are undefeated in league and ranked top ten in Orange County.

The Boys track team easily handled Newport Harbor, but it came down to the last race to beat Huntington Beach.  Epic performances were turned in by Dakarai Barnett, Nathan Willoughby, Elias Ghazlani, Philip Bui, Ibtihaj Nyear, and Kasey Leong.  The boys are also undefeated in league with two meets left.

Congratulations to the Varsity Baseball team for their win over Newport Harbor 8 to 1. Hunter Margain threw a complete game allowing 1 run. The offense was led by Stephen Fedele who had two hits including his 3rd homerun of the season. Justin Navarro drove in two runs with his double. Riley Hanson and Justin Yang contributed with a hit a piece. The Barons ended up 2 and 3 in the first round of Sunset League play. They play this week in the Beach Pit Classic. The Barons would like to thank all the staff and students for their support.

The Freshman Baseball Team improved their record to 11 and 2 as they defeated Newport Harbor 12 to 3.  Noah Amenta led the offense by collecting two hits and driving in three runs.  Jake Bitzer had three hits and scored 3 times. Conrad Villafuerte and Shea Adame each had two hits.  Strong pitching performances by Alex Rostomian and J. D. Norris helped keep the Barons in second place in the Sunset League.

Virtual Enterprise is hosting not One but TWO video game tournaments, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and League of Legends.  Sign ups start after spring break on April 13 in room 230 during lunch. The super smash bros. tournament cost $5 and the league of legends tournament costs $20 for a team of Five. However a full team is not required. Anyone can join for the price of $4 per player. They will be assigned a team before the tournament begins. Get ready for these tournaments

Congratulations to JV Boys Golf team for their hard fought match against Los Alamitos yesterday.  The Barons lost a close one with low rounds by Jake Arnold and Ryan Carr.  Keep up the good work Barons!

Congratulations to the Freshman Baseball team for their 1 to nothing victory over Huntington Beach.  Grant Salamon threw a complete game shutout for the win and Condrad Villafuerte preserved the win with an inning ending diving catch that saved two runs.  Shea Adame drove in the winning run with an infield hit that scored Jake Bitzer.
